Pearl got her RA title..NOT the right way!!!!
Here's the scoop!!! I entered Pearl in Advanced A, final leg... and Heart, Novice B for the umpteenth time.... My daughter came to 'watch' and help me take care of both. I practice with Pearl before going into the ring, and , of course she was ON!!! Paying attention, watching me, etc. Pearl forget to take her brain into the ring with her..  ..She was looking everywhere except at me, she was lagging, and then, almost at the end, her head went up, and she bounced out of the ring and jogged straight for my daughter, (who was pretty far away from the ring).
I just stood there, not believing what she had done, when the judge spoke..""Go get your dog!!" HUH??? I didn't move. Again, she said "Go get your dog"" OK.......so I ran to Pearl, gently ((and THAT was really hard for me to do at this point), brought her back into the ring and sat her in front of the judge. "Finish the last 4 excercises", the judge told me.......UH>>>OK!!! I left the ring, sweating like the proverbial PIG, and sat on the floor, I was amazed !!! I couldn't believe my old dog, my pretty perfect dog, who can't see too well, decided to act like ...well, like a sheepdog!!!!! Someone from the steward's table called my number and I went to see what they wanted..(maybe to make fun of me???  ). She told me that Pearl had recieved a 95 and was
NOT NQ'd.....HUH?????? When I went into the ring for our ribbon, the judge took me to the side and explained. " This was not the fault of you or your dog. A steward should have been blocking the entrance. IF there were a steward there, your dog would not have left the ring, and you would have been able to call her back".... I HUGGED HER!!!! NOW I have to decide if I am going to try to get her an Excellent Rally title???? Do I have the stamina????? I don't know...gimme a few days to recoup....... ((BTW...Heart got her 14th green ribbon in NOVICE!!! Soon we will be able to make a quilt comprised of GREEN RIBBONS.... )) |

Just make sure if you go for excellent, you have your daughter stand closer to the ring.
