Now that Katie's hair is long enough that it needs to be put up, Kobe retaliates by pulling Kate's hair binder out. Oh, joy. Do you guys keep your dogs' binders in all the time? Do they actually stay? I had a small plastic claw in before, but it's just not enough now and I worried about her eating it so only kept it in while I was around. Is this binder thing always going to be a constant on-off battle? LOL |

It depends on the other dog
Maggie always pulled Chewie's out at 1st. (all the other dogs left it alone) We finally got her to stop by pure perseverance. Anytime she even went near the topknot we verbally corrected her. Maggis is smart (too smart?), but she did give in on this one. |
hm, good point.
i'm going to blame temporary insanity for not coming up with that myself thanks! it's only while they're playing, they just always go for the same things, the little stinkers. |
Morgna would do that when Marley and he were youn - now he ignores them. We don't leave collars on the dogs in the house and only their ecollars for the fence when they are out in the yard so that isn't an issue. |
I can't wait till we're at the point they don't wear collars in the house. Kobe never used to, but with the new house both are keen to bolt out the door every time it's opened, plus Kobe finally figured out about digging a hole not in the middle of the yard but at the fence, so we're working on discouraging that...it's getting better but until I can trust 200% that Kobe (who is dumb/smart enough to keep running, and then poop in someone else's yard, while Katie would just come right back in) will not bolt, I want them to have their collars/tags on. I can't run very fast with a baby belly |
One bit of advice I can give is that if you are going to keep Katie's collar on at all times, be aware that collars can create huge matts. I was dematting Asterisk's neck constantly when I kept her collar on in the house. |
I remove the undercoat, so matting around the collars is a rare issue for me.
I bought a packet of small bands intended for use on horse manes. They stay in beautifully, even with my son's dog chewing on them. I cut them off, just slip the scissors underneath one of the bands and unwind. If you try to pull them off, they will tear up the hair. |
