Langley tsk tsk!

Wow what a guy! So I had a lady came by to talk about Invisible Fencing with me and the dogs were meeting her all excited and Langley bit her bum! I couldn't believe it! He does it with me when I move to fast but she was just standing there. I was horrified. I am stepping up my game I am past the giving a toy in the mouth. Now he has to leave the room when he pulls these shenanigans.

Any one have invisible fencing? How do you like it?

Problems friends have encountered:

A dog who wants to leave the property.........saw another dog is nearby.......will blow right through. This is especially true with larger breeds.

Other dogs can enter your yard, excite your dog and see above.

Batteries die in the collar rendering invisible fence useless resulting in big fine from pound who collects your running dogs.

Do you want a collar on your OES at all time thus creating more mat problems around the neck.

Collar caused skin problems.
the one good thing with this one it beeps when the batteries are low. They wear their collars all the time now. I live in cottage country so I am not too worried. I am very secluded. They are going to train with many different scenarios she will put her dog on the other side for example and we train with the lead. Plus I will never allow them outside without me. I want to play ball and take them swimming without a long lead on them at all times.
Hehe, that is very funny! But very naughty too
I have no experience with those fences, good luck!
We have invisible fencing, Gertie can now go outside without a collar due to the fact that she has learned the boundaries. We never have let any of our animals outside without supervision. Even with the standard fencing system. Anything can happen to an animal left outside alone.
Yah it is more for playing with them outside and in the lake without the worries of taking off or on leash the whole time.
I've heard lots of negative things about the invisible fencing. It works by giving your dog an electric shock every time they get too close to the fence. Despite what the sales pitch is, it IS an electric shock and it does cause some pain. Many dogs get so stresed out by the collar, they literally shut down and regress in training situations.

The other problem is, it doesn't stop another dog from entering your property and if by chance this is an agressive dog, your poor dog has an unfair handicap to defend itself because every time it gets too close to the boundary, it will get shocked.

I think your dog was telling you something when he bit the lady in the bum...I would never use electric shock on my dog for any reason. A regular old fashion fence works just fine, is probably cheaper and the dog will love the freedom without fear.

By the way, people on my block have the invisible fence and their two newfies get through it all the time. I almost hit one with my car the other day as he blew past their "fence"...
My breeder uses an electric fence for her dogs. She has 3 acres of land. She said that after two days her dogs figured out the boundaries and no longer required collars.

She did mention that her neighbor is a jerk who likes to tease her dogs by talking to them and getting them all worked up on the other side of the fence because he knows they won't cross it.

Her neighbors also have a cat that will come in and out of her yard. They dogs give chase but come to a dead stop before the boundary. She lives on a secluded cul-de-sac, so there isn't much in way of traffic, human or car.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!
I really dont like people who tease animals.
