Quilts made from winning ribbons

A friend of mine who has a champion Scottie found this website from a woman in TN who makes quilts from, among other things, the dog's winning ribbons. She got a 3' x 3' wall hanging, and it's GORGEOUS! Not sure if anyone is interested, but thought I'd post it just in case.

Cool! I've started making a lampshade out of all of Owen's.
Way too creative!! Very nice! People come up with amazing ways to make the most of something they cherish.
Cool! What a great idea :)
Yes I have seen those in person with the dogs photo (on fabric) in the middle.

It would be totally cool if your dog was winning ribbons. At this stage we are very far removed from that.

Thanks for sharing the link Chris.
If anyone is interested - I would be more than happy to help them out on this type of project - for a donation to the health fund of course. I enjoy quilting and especially meaningful quilts.

I like the idea of the crate cover quilts form the ribbons myself - if we ever accumulate enough, I tend to ahem lets say "forget" to pick up our ribbons an many occassions.
What a fabulous idea, mine are in bags under the bed only put up the most recent ones. What a great way to be able to display them, you could have a quilt made for each individual dogs achievements with their ribbons and rosettes.

So clever. :D
What would be good is if you could just supply ribbons and get one made up - yes I know its cheating - but it would look good.

Yes, my Ollie is a champion show dog don't you know dahhhling lol

You DO supply the ribbons - the ones on the quilts are actual. I uploaded a picture of my friend's quilt yesterday but don't see it yet, so I uploaded it again. Will post once approved. She will use her quilt as a wall hanging, and the hangers are actually the ribbons too, showing the club/show name. It's really beautiful. My friend said after all her hard work (she's only shown and finished one dog), she thought it was a waste to just have the ribbons in a shoe box under the bed!
Ah sorry should of been more clear, I mean fake ones - Ollie is just my pet, not a show dog, but I'd still love one of those

No reason why you can't use performance ribbons to make a quilt

Often harder earned too...

I toss all of my class placement ribbons (breed, not performance!) Only kept the ones that mattered (WB/BOW/BOS/BOB/Group) Who knew those suckers could come in handy some day?

Gorgeous quilts. Lovely idea.

Wow I'll have to tell my sister (the one in PA) she does quilts. She's making a quilt out of men's ties right now. The only ribbon Shamu won was a cutest butt contest.

And....?

That counts!

Now you just have to find some more bootie contests

Aww.. thanks Kristine that's very nice of you
Here is my friend's quilted wall hanging. She said she was initially disappointed that the woman didn't use more of the blue ribbons, but then thought that she wanted to balance out the colors.

very nice - guess we;ll be sticking around to pick up our agility ribbons form now on. now where did I put the last ones :lmt:
Well, you'd certainly never be able to WASH the quilt! Have you seen what happens to ribbons which accidentally get put through the wash? (Something I have done a LOT after stuffing them into my pockets at the shows). They end up BLANK! The gold lettering totally disappears. So if the quilt ever got washed, the ribbons would then be blank! Maybe the quilt should be immediately put under glass before anything happens to it! :)

WOW chris the quilt is lovely and just such a clever idea especially as a wall hanging. Very impressive and a great keepsake. :D

So much better then stuffing all under the bed
Amazing!
I'm saving that website....Thank you!! That is really cool....I have ribbons in containers and boxes in my office currently with no home....
4 more points left for Matisse and I can get something made!! :D

Thanks for sharing that, Chris!
That is very cool!
I have boxes full too, stashed away. Not under my bed, though!
