Everytime I went more xrays ect. this last ortho also wanted a CT scan. OK so I had to go back again. first he told me that the arm and shoulder are ok. After the CT scan he saw what he thinks are a few small bone pcs. not sure. Now wants me to go to a sports doctor for his opion. AND he took away all pain meds. he gave me a perscript. for naproxin. boy did I get sick! not good for my tummy. could not keep anything down again plus was running to the bathroom with the runs. I finally just had it. I went into a state of detox doing it myself last weekend. nothing but water till i got everything out of my system. not even a IB. its been a week and I am doing ok. getting my taste back (lost that with the meds) won't say what else came out but gross. I gained 4 lbs. so almost 140 now. I have been doing slow PT on my own and stretches and am getting more use of my arm Doctor would not refer me to PT til Ii saw this other dr. no one is telling me anymore what to do. sorry this is long but I just had to vent!!!!! |

It's hard to be a doctor because our bodies don't read the textbooks and behave like they are supposed to behave. That's why it sometimes more scans, Xrays and rechecks than we think we should have. Not to mention it takes longer to heal the older we get.
Then there is the lawsuit happy patient who made it hard for all of us - it's a CYA world now. And you can understand that your doctor is concerned that the pain meds can be very addicting. Vioxx was a wonder drug for me and I wished I could still get it. None of the other NSAIDs worked for me, they might as well have been water. So I was put on high-dose Motrin, ended up being for 12 months (before and after surgery). Ask your doctor about the Motrin. Ice and heat are your friends. Perhaps it is time to get a second opinion. Gather up all of the films, surgery report and visit a new person. Right before I had surgery, I fired my doctor. The guy was the best in our area from a technical standpoint, but I came away frustrated and angry. My husband said that it just wasn't worth it - I was starting to get a bad attitude. The next doctor was a gem. Hang in there. |
no go!
this is the third dr. and i told him about my tummy with strong meds. this has been going on for almost 3 months now. I am tried!!! in all ways. no sleep except for a few on the couch with the tv on. I am mad as hell right now........ |
Feels great to be liberated! Nobody knows your body like you. But you are living on just water?! Did I read that wrong? OK I'm not telling you what to do but... please eat something.. something gentle on your stomach |
just water the first 3 days. I have now been eating small amounts that'
taste sooo good. Love soup! thanks for caring! |
I don't blame you one bit for being frustrated. 3 months is way too long to be in the kind of pain you're in, especially when the doctors were starting you all over on tests, etc.
Please just be careful with the home grown PT, and maybe try some soup with chunks (like chowder?) to get you back to real food? |
OHHHHHHHHHHHH BOY can I identify! Except I have only tried celebrex and had to stop it - made me sick. now in pt. hoping this helps. no more doctors! going to chiro and pt. drs want to do surgery on neck, low back, hip and shoulder. pain is constant now. drs and tests now more!
will also try accupucture. no meds. will get back to my active lifestyle. good luck to you! |
I so wish you were feeling 100%.
HEAL! |
I am so sorry you are going through this I wish I had somethng of good use to tell you. All I can say is hang in there |
