Hydraulic seems like overkill. I just lift mine onto the table. It also comes with little stairs they can walk up. |
I think with your back problems you may want to go hydraulic. |
yes, my back is bad -- I cannot lift them. barely can walk right now. yuck!
there are tables with stairs? |
I have my table in front of the couch.
I taught mine to get on the couch first, then they climb on the table. You can also get steps... http://oesusa.com/GroomingTable-Em.jpg http://oesusa.com/GroomingTable-Darb.jpg Just be sure you put something under the steps if you use them on a tile or hardwood floor... they can slip away from the table. I'd put the steps at one end of the table so you have better access to the dog once it's on the table too. |
Hydraulic are very expensive, with a normal grooming table you can teach them "Paws Up" That is them putting there front paws up on the table or you doing it for them then you just hoist the back end up then teach them to lie down, if they wont lie on their side then easy to flip them on their side once up on the table for grooming.
Another thing with just an ordinary grooming table is you can set it up anywhere, outside if a nice day or inside if wet and miserable. Also folds up for easy storage so not a permanent fixture in the house. Dryers I have a stand one which I use in conjunction with the grooming table, hands free so I can layer brush as we dry, cage dryers seem to only blow cool air where even a hand held good human dryer you have the option of heat settings and more complete drying right through to the skin. My stand dryer is from the UK and is a Simpson, best investment I ever purchased for the dogs, 10 years old and still going strong. Another suggestion too, with any dryer dont get plastic casings, get one with a metal casing then they last forever even if the motor conks you can have that re-conditioned as you still have the entire dryer without damaged casings due to over time plastic ones either melting or cracking. |
thanks. great tips! i have lots to learn. will be studying "how to groom"
again thanks for the help |
