Does anyone have any tips on how to make the bread fluffier? And does anyone have a favorite breadmaker recipe? |

I don't have a breadmaker ...I do it myself, but if someone were to ask me that and doing it by hand, I would say there's a good chance your water is too hot. Is it? I like describing the water temp to be more like something you would give to a baby to drink. warm (upper lukewarm).
Most of my recipes take a good 10-20 min for the yeast to sit, then an hour for the bread to rise (again, probably not an issue if you use a breadmaker). Depending on the recipe, I always let the bread rise again for 10 or so min after I've rolled it out/before putting it in oven. My favorite yeast/bread recipes. http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?t=19884 http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?t=19743 |
I have noticed lots of recipes for breadmachines on allrecipes.com. I used to have one, but the movers broke it, and I prefer to do it by hand anyways. I think there is a category just for machines on there, and reading the reviews of the recipes always proves helpful for me. Good luck, I am dreading baking this fall and winter, as I have never used gas before, or lived in such a high altitude, or been in such a dry climate.... |
the thought of making bread by hand terrifies me. I love my bread machine because it literally takes me less than 5 minutes and the bread is delicious!
thanks for the water temperature hint, I think I've been putting in water that is too hot, so hopefully using warm water will help. Cinnamon rolls are next on my list! |
I laughed when I read the instructions with my breadmaker that said 'leave the bread to cool before eating' and then in brackets said 'Ok if you can't wait until then have some kitchen roll ready to catch the butter that will drip off the hot bread! ' These people know only too well!! |
