Every time we come home (even if we were gone 15 minutes) or someone comes to the house, Chloe always gets so excited to see us and her butt starts wiggling and she dribbles a little bit. The dribbles are starting to become more and more as she is getting bigger herself. She is now 14 weeks old... is there anything we can do to prevent this, or will it hopefully stop when she gets older? |

Right now all I can suggest is to come in as quietly and calmly as possible, to reduce her excitement level as much as possible.
Hudson went through this when he was younger. I thought I would die of humiliation. He dribbled on everyone, everywhere that he found remotely of interest. (And he can spend three hours staring out a window into our backyard where NOTHING moves, so he finds everything interesting.) It magically stopped as he aged. Not a drip. So there's something to cling to. Hadn't happened to us for a long time. (at least 8 or 9 months) My husband came home from obedience the other day, furious. He said Hudson dribbled all over again. He was ticked. This struck me as weird, as he'd been perfect for more than three quarters of a year. Sure enough he was already fussing to go out and hubby told him no way - he couldn't have any pee left. I took him right out. He squatted, had trouble going, and squealed. A three hundred and fifty dollar trip to the all night doggie emergency room later, and we were home with antibiotics for a bladder infection. Two pills later (and yes, we finished them all and did the follow up testing too) and he was back under control. So, I know it's irritating now, but she'll outgrow it. Our Hudson outgrew it, and he's evil. I'm sure your good dog will be fine. Our vet said that their parts all grow at different rates, and muscle control can be an issue when they're little. Good luck to you guys. I know with Hudson I didn't even realize he'd stopped until months after he had and it dawned on me. |
My parents' last sheepie did this too. She eventually stopped...but she was like 8 or so...we just learned to come in as quietly as possible and to bring a paper towel |
