In putting this together, I attributed a few of his behaviors to deafness, but realized that I really have nothing to compare my assumptions to, since Oscar is the only deaf sheepdog I've ever met. I can compare him to our first OES, Quincy, which helps with the breed and their foibles, but not to other deaf sheepdogs. To garner more info, and to see if any of my assumptions are in the ballpark, I have put together a questionnaire (Word document) regarding the behaviors of deaf sheepdogs, or just deaf dogs in general. If any of you currently have or have had a deaf dog in the past, and wouldn't mind taking a few minutes to fill out a questionnaire, just PM me with your e-mail address and I would be happy to send one along. Thank you for your help! |
