Anyone in the lower MI/OH area...

Hi,

The Western Reserve OES Club is interested in hosting an event called Pictures in the Park sometime next spring. As the committee chair for this event I am working on gathering information on local parks and/or other facilities where we might be able to host this event. Not to worry we will not hold it during Sheepiepaloza :D

If you knwo of any places I could check into please feel free to post here or contact me privately.

We are planning on holding a general pet grooming demonstration, mini-obedience sessions where you can learn how to work with your dog on some of the basics, and a photo opportunity with you favorite shaggy beasts :D It's sure to be a fun day.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Do you want this to be a leashed or unleashed event?

Oh good question....I think it depends on the restrictions of the places I look at. I think there are good reasons to have it be a leashed event but I also know people like to allow thier dogs to run around at events like this...

Since we are in the early planning stages I'll take suggestions for either option if you have any :D

It would be nice to meet you and your dogs in person!
Off the top of my head, the first place that I thought of was Lyon Oaks Park in Wixom, MI. It's a regular park, but there's also a 13 acre dog park on site as well. Lots of hiking trails, beach, very clean, all that good stuff.

Here's a link to the park:

There's one in the dog park section but, if I recall, you don't have to enter the dog park itself, it's before the entrance but it would be a nice place to grab a captive audience since people will already be coming into the park, too.

Might be worth checking out. I haven't been out there in a couple of years but it's a nice park.
OOOH that's a definite option!

Thanks :D
It would be nice to meet you as well (and compare notes -whistling emoticon?)

Anyway - I feel strongly - even when I am at an event with one of the boys (who are after all party animals) that unleashed and leashed dogs shouldn't be mixed, it causes all sort of problems unless you have totally trained off leashed dogs - like OTCH category

But having an unleashed area is always a good idea.

I definitely agree with you on this.

I generally like off leash as I have a Havanese that is a lot more confrontational with other dogs when on a leash.

I know I am far from having OTCH category dogs.... 8O I'm lucky I can get them all to come inside when I ask...wait I suppose it's more of a bribe as I am typically yelling: "cooooookiiiiiiieeeeees"
Sounds like fun--and we are not too far away!
