Feeling along his spine

My dogs spine doesn't feel consistent to me. As I run my hand down his spine, one vertebra right about in the middle of his back feels like it is larger, or it sticks up more than the others. He is 2 years old neutered not too skinny maybe even a little overwieight around 100 pounds.

Is this normal? Is it not normal but nothing to worry about? Should we get him to a vet right away? (Money is a little tight, but if need be we'll scrape it up somehow). Can it wait until we bring him to the vet for another reason?
