Heart has another quirky habit~~~~~ scenerio... Morning, about 6, all dogs have gone out, had their morning drink, played with dad before he left for work (in other words, all basic needs have been met). All are laying around the room for their mid early morning nap ( gosh...what a life!!!! )..Pearl on the tuffet, Coz in a corner (as usual ) Heart butt up against me as I am checking my emails.. Out of nowhere, I heard a high pitched whine..short and sweet. I ignore it...then another...AND another...I look down at her. She is still laying, head down and she inhales..ANOTHER whine???? What is up with that???? Now Heart has always been vocal..you cannot pet her without hearing a grunt of some kind, but I don't get this one??? Is she in pain???? Is she trying to get my attention??? (although, just sitting and staring at me would be a better tactic)..since the other pups are sleeping, its not to get their attention... ............thought I would get forum opinions on this ...and does any other pupper display this rather odd behaviour???? |

Yes, my 2 yr old Aussie, Asia, is the "talker" in the family and makes very similar sounds at me when she wants my attention. She yaks at me even if I had spent a good deal of time petting her, she wants more. She is such a cutie. |
LOL Holly will do the same thing if I am doing something and she is lying on the floor beside me she will do this whine ( I call it her talking ) I think it is funny but my daughter thinks it funnier that I answer her when she does this! |
Cedric (of course with a name like that, the Irish Setter) does the same thing. Even funnier, he will go upstairs, go in the crate in the hall, and sigh and cry and whine - like the world is ending. Hello, the door is open, you walked in there yourself |
Was she awake or asleep? I hear the high whine from mine when they are dreaming. |
I have no idea - -but please give her a snuggle from us. |

She is not dreaming...She has done this while sleeping but, they are more short barks..not long calculated whines...... |
MO has serious "discussions" when she sleeps ranging from the barks to whimper to whines.
First thought for you was dreaming, but suspect talking to get you up and entertaining her. Outside chance pain but I'd expect to see other indications: limping, food or butt problems, excessive licking. |

The abuse I take from you guys!!!!! Just because I want my Heart to SHINE....shine....shine..... ((((((you just wait....Steph!!!! Little Paislee will be the VP of Heart's Bling Club in a couple of months!!!!!!!)))))) |
you guys are so much fun.. yes my duffy just sits and crys and stares at me..not sure why either such a baby |
My Dalmo does that. He just sits and looks at me and whines. He looks and sounds as if the most terrible tragedy has befallen him.
I've decided that its usually when he wants a walk but he can see I'm busy working and knows there's NO chance it will happen yet. So he cries while he waits. Just trying to guilty me into some lovin' and/or exercise I think. No of course they're not spoilt. |
Yep, Bally's a whiner too... I've tried to explain to him that he's almost a year old and should be acting like a Big Boy, but no luck |

That is really funny. |
I'm sure she's just a big fat whiny baby like her fellow OES, Owen, king of all whiners. |

Boy is that true! He MIGHT be more of a Mama's boy than even José! |

Well~~~~At least she is in GREAT company!!!!!! |
Oh my goodness...you do not want to hear how much her mama talks. Ask Ali...Dee rivals only Bella in the talking catagory. She could end up being quite the talker if genetics have anything to do with it!! |

She is in her crate right now.... quietly whining...... of course she is in season right now making it worse that the hormone king (2 year old Checkers) has been going off regularly for 4 days now..... i'll sure be happy when next week gets here. |
