adult coat

What is the age at which a sheepie is certain to have their final, adult coat? My boy Bert is almost 3, and he is still very pale grey...plus his fur is still quite soft and flyaway compared to my girl, or the 2 other sheepies we've had. Is this just it for him, or is it possible that we have his second coat change coming?? :? As much as I love his soft fluffiness, he is much harder to groom than Abby, so I'm hoping to see him get a bit courser. :plead:

my guys got their afult coats around three. My neutered boys coat is much softer than my intact girl. I keep him shorter (he likes it better)
Brie was 4 when all the changes finished in the coat. They mature at different rates, some a lot earlier then others some not very much at all and some are late bloomers.

Yes, I was very surprised when I saw an OES puppy recently (6 months old) already all gray. Mine at about 20 months old is still pure black and white.
These threads scare the life out of me  Ugh.... THREE?? Ru isn't even 2 yet...come on coat...come on coat...
Poor Cassie :D
I won't help you - as Chewie is 3 and just on his 2nd coat

I was brushing last night, and rediscovered all this humid weather is horrid for the long coat. I haven't had nasty tangles like this in a long time. My sympathies to those of you who live in perpetually warm and humid climates!
Um, when do the mats stop?

Nooooo! I just shaved mine down for summer and b/c of mats and I was so sad! These dogs are beautiful and have the best personalities but they are so much work!

The adult coat is much easier to keep mat free, but you're still in for a LOT of brushing! Just the nature of the (furry) beast!
