Newest Vampire Favorite...We love True Blood.

OK, my daughter read all the book. She is almost 16 and a mature girl. There is a bit too much sex in the first season for my taste, but they are supposed to tone it down this eason. (HBO...tone it down?)

Anyway, we are still addicted to the Louisiana vampire stories, and the men are gorgeous. Why do they have to be undead to look that good? LOL

I watched the entire first season "ON Demand" otherwise I would have missed it. Love the show, especially the opening. What a great song and visuals.

Now I'm waiting for Big Love to return, that will make it a full week of TV viewing for me.
We bought season 1, but we did watch the 1st episode of the 2nd season online right after it finished here. My daughter had the website, but I know you can watch them all online after they have aired.
We're in the middle of season 1 right now too. It's really good! I never thought I would be in to a vampire show though.
Ok, what is this show? What night is it on? I just finished reading the whole Twilight series, and though I never in a million years thought I would say this, but WOW, after reading that series, who wouldn't want to be with a vampire :P I even named my 5 month old pups Edward, Rosalie and Bella.
I love Vampires and I already have a Bella. Beware Amber, (put the kids to bed) True Blood does have a lot of sexual scenes. It is on HBO on Sunday nights, but if you don't have HBO (I don't) you can watch it on watchtrueblood.net/ I don't want to spend any more on my cable bill, so I wait and watch it right after it airs on HBO.

I couldn't get the link to load so just type it into your browser.
As is often the case, the book series is infinitely better.
Great HBO series too- as long as you aren't expecting it
to be like the books. I never miss the show.

Amber - if you liked the twilight series, you might like the
P C Cast series. It's similar, maybe a bit weaker, but
decent reading. (I read the series as a favor to a friend who's
daughter was reading the books. She was concerned about
content and knew I could read them all in a couple days) I
normally read with much more heavy content (horror, blood and
guts) but the P C Cast books were ok by me.

Charlaine Harris also has a couple other good series. The
Harper Connelly series and the Lily Bard series are both very
good. They are both different from the Sookie series, and
different from each other.

And for a bit of light reading I am just finishing the
Argeneau series by Lyndsay Sands. I found this series very
funny, but it has more sexual content. I don't normally read
the 'romance' type books, but this wasn't bad. There is the
frustration factor and that was enough to keep me reading it.

I know the OP was about tv, but I get carried away about books.
Sorry.

Very true. I've been pushing these books for years so I was thrilled when Alan Ball, of all possible people, decided to do the series. I read an interview somewhere where he, just by happenstance, picked up one of the books in an airport to read on a plane and liked it so much that he thought it would make a good series.

I like the Harper Connelly books a lot. Lily Bard (and Aurora Teagarden as well) were both a little too straight mystery for me. The supernatural stuff is a lot more fun. :)
Shellie - Thanks for the recommended reading. I am going to try to find this series.

Ok, so last night I discovered that I have True Blood on demand through my cable company. All episodes. I started watching around 10pm and could not stop watching. I finally called it quits after episode five. I must say I am hooked - what a great show!!! Looking forward to the rest tonight after I put the little ones to sleep (yes Wendy, you were right, way too much sex so I would not want my little ones walking in while I was watching that)
Last night's eposide was great...another cliff hanger ending. I had to watch it online later as we don't have HBO. I can't afford to add anymore channels...we already have showtime.
We have season 1 on video...glad you got the warning Amber. Last night was the first episode I can remember with only a hint of sex. It kinda embarasses me because I watch it with my almost 16 year old. My almost 14 year old leaves if she sees that stuff.

I have always loved vampires...the more shows the better. November brings Twilight 2nd book to the theatres. We need a vampire emoticon...lol.
BTW - don't know if anyone caught this, but there is a
tv series on scifi that started in '07 on another network.
It's called Moonlight. (male vamp P.I. and a woman reporter
are the main characters.)
They started running the series this spring on network
from the very beginning of the series. It seems to me they
are through the shows the first time and are now rerunning
them. It's on friday night on scifi at 9 pm - and no worries
about the sex scenes. Pretty good show too.

Shellie
Are you talking about Moonlight? It was on network TV but the series was cancelled. That one is pretty good too.
wow i'm catching this thread a bit late but couldn't help but add my 2 cents

I saw my sister reading the true blood books, took one look at the cover and called her a weirdo. But she convinced me to read them and i i was quickly put to rights. The books were great, def not what i was expecting The series is a bit different they move stuff around and adjust to help with the flow but all in all its pretty good. It makes you wonder why they linger on some story lines from the books but speed through other ones. I wonder the criteria for what makes it into the show and what has to go.

Oh and i HATED the accents on the show, until on a vaca i heard somebody from Louisiana talk and i could have sworn it was Tara!!!

We only receive the 3 digital channels (sadly my reality show addiction got the better of me and we canceled the satellite so i would do...well anything else) so we either download it or find it on hulu.com But ill have to try that site out wendy58! Thanks for the tip :P

I actually watch it on Fastpass. It is free, no downloading, and it is usually on about an hour after it airs East Coast time.

LOL. James made fun of me for reading them based on the covers, too! The illustrations do make them seem like they'll be totally lame. After the second book, I started taking the jackets off so James wouldn't pick on me. ;)
