YUKKKKK!!!!!!!!!! I have never personally seen a tick before. Lucky me! I spoke with my vet and she said to take his temp 2x's a day and that it would be too soon for any testing. People with first hand expierience can you please tell me what else to be on the look out for. Symptons. The tick was greyish green in color about the size of a ladybug. Thank you so much. Robin |

Take a deep breath and wiggle a bit...because they are so gross! The first couple I have had to deal with made me want to vomit, but once I got the hang of it, the 28th time was a cinch!
I was gone at a conference and Josh found one that had been sucking for awhile and attempted to take all of the tick off. Part of the head remained and it caused a nice bump on her head. It finally worked it's way out today...6 weeks later! No ill effects from any of the 30+ Mags has had over the past 2-3 months and we have a high rate of lymes and other tick-borne diseases. Can anyone verify or debunk this for me...I was told that if you want the tick to "let go," that you cover the tick in Vaseline. That way, they are not able to breathe and "let go" to get some air. If that is true, I may have a slimy, but soft sheepdog at some point this summer! |
Below are a couple interesting tick websites which tell about tick removal-

From the pictures Ron it looked like the first pic, which I believe said,
dog tick. Was I correct that it said dog tick? Hubby pulled that sucker straight out with his fingernails and said see the long feeler,I got all of it out. It was nasty looking almost like something that children pick out of their nose.LOL! Did I just say that. Robin |
If you got most or all of the mouth parts out, and if it was a dog tick, then you don't have very much to worry about at all. Just run your hand over it and look at it once in a while to see that its healing. It will likely develop a bit of a bump as it heals, but if it gets really warm or if the skin gets red, see your vet! |
Thank you for the responses.
I truly appreciate it. Ticks YUCKY!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Just pulled one off Chewie today as we were grooming.....bleck! |
