she's adorable - but I don't believe that grass is real |
I'm actually the one that was in the one picture.. and yes, the grass is real.. my father loves having a nice looking lawn... hopefully it will maybe stay close to how it looks now (yeah right ) .. we have a part of our yard that has small rocks which we are attempting to train her to go potty there.. but we'll see how that goes |

Where, oh, where in the world is this gorgeous lawn? I can't imagine the amount of upkeep, but it looks LOVELY. Kristine |

Kristine Ocean City, NJ .... relatively small yard, not a big farm or anything like that.. but we'll see if the yard will continue to look like that |
trying to get her to potty on the rocks may be part of the issue if she is used ot going on grass or dirt (even flooring may be mor elike grass or dirt than it is rocks). We had a poodle once who pottied on carpeting or grass only - she was out of luck once the snow fell and since we had no carpets in the house
It sucks when the puppy comes with no idea about the collar or the leash doesn't it? of our last three, one had that issue, it was challenging. I would leave the collar ona nd no tlet her loose outdie at all. only walks on the leash, maybe using food or toys for lures and keep them short. I am sure others have better ideas. |
pee pads for in the house at first, lot's of positive encouragement, slowly move the pads towards the door, these are smart pups, she'll catch on fast, eventually transition to the big outside world.
Lot's of encouragement, then maybe a scented pee post outside But to be honest this isn't any sage wisdom from my experiences rather just other topics and other internet sites. We were lucky in one regard getting Archie at 4 months I think his mum and dad had told him what was expected and we have only had one accident in the house. |
She is gorgeous!!! |
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to cute |
I'd go back and use the IMG tags in the original post but I no longer can edit it.. oh well, guess the links will have to do but thank you for all your feedback... we're in love with her already! (although she has already had her share of accidents inside despite the amount of times we've taken her outside! ) |
Actually you had used the IMG tags properly in your post, but the IMG tags will only work for photos hosted on the oes.org photo gallery, so I had to remove them! The links work great though.
Consider using our photo gallery! Instructions are in the forum's FAQ section and the gallery is at http://photos.oes.org |
Chloe is just gorgeous!:hearts: What a sweet, sweet face! But be careful! They learn all too soon how that sweet little face will get them out of a LOT of jams!!
I can't offer any advice on housebreaking, as we've only ever had rescues who've already been trained by the time we got them. |
What a cutie she is and I CANT BELIEVE YOUR LAWN WOW after years of drought here we just have weeds and dust ground in summer due to water restrictions as well, NO watering lawns
Potty training, get her into a routine, like as soon as she wakes after a nap pop her on the lead and take her to where you want her to go in the yard and when she squats praise her and then let her off to play. Same with after a drink or meal within about 10 minutes do the same take her to where you want her to potty in the yard on a leash. After playing in the house or excitement straight away again on the lead and outside, eventually she will click and you should be able to let her out without the lead and hopefully she will associate an area in your yard to go to straight away. Now inside and where she has peed especially if on carpet use a pee neutraliser to remove any scent there, scrubbing the area will not remove her scent and she can possibly then associate that area in the house as OK to go again. As late as possible before bed take her out for her final potty on the lead even if you have to wake her before you go to sleep and as being so young, very early in the morning then depending on the time you can both go back to sleep. I use to get up at 5.00-5.30 with mine in the morning then go back to bed Only tiny baby, so bladder controll is still developing as she gets older there will be longer inbetween potties. And expect excitement puppy pee accidents as well on occassions in the house till they get a wee bit older, any accidents in the house then treat with a pee neutraliser, most pet shops sell it. Lots of praise when she goes where you want her too, ignoring the odd pee mishap and she will click soon if you keep her to a good routine with pottying Being a female dog I cant imagine your grass staying so pristine with a squatter, when we did have grass and all females, even though they all went to one area in the yard the grass died a slow death even before we had drought here. With the sooking try to occupy her with a thing like a Kong stuffed with treats and some stuffed toys for her to snuggle with to take her mind off things and keep her occupied. New to the house she will settle soon and probably missing others in her litter. You can try leaving a radio on for her when you have to leave her, always found that good too when there on there own, mine like talk back radio stations |
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww shes lovely!!! |
We took Chloe to the vet for a checkup today and you would have thought the world stopped everyone in the office came to see Chloe and they all just love OES's there.. We are starting to make some progress in just a few days here in the house too! |

Yes, OES pups a superstars! When you have one, it gives us ordinary shmucks a feel of what's like to be a celebrity. Did you consider crate training to help with the housebreaking? I learned about it here in the forum, and it worked really well. My pup was housetrained in less than a month. At that age, I remember the most challenging thing being the nipping. My pup didn't like the Kong, instead he destroyed a leather jacket I had. And unless there are endemic diseases in your area, don't go overboard with the vaccines; read up on the subject and be skeptical of recommendations put out by veterinary vaccine makers and the pharmaceutical industry. |
She is gorgeous! Congrats!!! |
