How sweet! I didn't realize you have two. Do you ever go to the Chicago area sheepie gatherings? I don't think I've met you, but maybe I have... |
I haven't been anywhere to meet other sheepies yet. I stumbled onto this site by sheer luck. I've been hoping to meet other sheepies and their owners since last year and have been unsuccessful in my search.
Can you tell me more about the chicagoland gatherings? |

Can you tell me more about the chicagoland gatherings? I'm so glad you found us! Send me a private message with your personal email and phone numbers. I can pass on o the groups for invites and to stay in touch with you. Chicago has a very active sheepdog community so don't miss out! There are usually two large events held in October for anyone to attend. They are an absolute blast! SheepieFest was started by Deborah (a forum member). It's a very low key group that holds one large fun fest in Octoberl. Deborah founded the event just as a way for your average fun loving sheepie lovers and owners to get together and share their love of OES. We go to a beautiful forest preserve where the pups can run around as well (well, technically they aren't supposed to be off leash, but there's no stopping our sheepies). There is no entrance fee for this event. You just bring your sheepie, yourself and others in the clan, and a picnic type food to pass There's also a raffle to raise proceeds for an OES Rescue group (different one each year). We've attended 3 Sheepiefests and I will never miss one...EVER! I've made some great friends and the uprights do try to get together one or twice during the year as well to catch up. The Chicagoland OES Club is the more established group that is very involved in anything sheepdog related in Illinois, i.e. rescue, agility, shows... They sponsor many events throughout the year. The large event in October is so much fun. It's an informal event where you pay a small entrance fee to have a blast! There's usually a raffle and the pups run in the huge outdoor area at Riverwoods Kennel. Hope to hear from you soon! Take care! |

I'm curious about the name too... do you have other nicknames or shorten it? |
I have a few nicknames for Asterisk. I call her "fuzzy lady" (As cheesy as it sounds, I like to sing it to her in the tune of 'foxy lady'). Usually, I just call her Asterisk. She knows her name and I've never shortened it
Though, people who want to make me cringe ever-so-slightly (my boyfriend included) will call her "Assy" for short. She has no idea they're talking about her, and usually once they say that name, they tend to get a slug in the arm or a jab in the ribs. |
