I am so sorry to hear about your pain. Bless your heart.
I am by NO means an expert of any kind, but, the doctors have always told me that you need to "stay ahead of the pain". Take all your meds as directed, and be sure not to miss a dosage. Have you seen another doctor yet? A specialist? If not, I would certainly make an appointment. There may be something else they can prescribe for your pain. Take care. We are thinking about you. |
You are putting food in front of those meds, I hope? Also keepying hydrated helps. Tough I know with the nausea, but try the sucking on ice cubes as a last resort. Forget about doing anything, just going to the bathroom will be the most activity you do for awhile. Shower/shampoo will have to wait until you figure out how to get more comfortable.
Yes, keep ahead of the pain! You won't become addicted, I promise. Take the meds on time, no heroics. You have to be comfortable for the pain to lessen. Catch 22 yes, but not until you can relax from less pain, will the pain go away. If the nausea is really bad, call your doc. Maybe a switch to something else will be better on your tummy. Or they can get you something for nausea. |
Keep warm, don't know the temp where you are but wrap up anyway & have a hot water bottle to alternate on your tummy, hands and feet, that will keep your blood flowing & help your body fight the pain.
I would be on the brandy, but I'm not suggesting that with pain meds Gentle hugs x x |
For nausea and to keep some fluids in you - drink flat lemonade, not the cloudy type, 7up or Sprite, not sure what you guys have. This is my cure for anything with upset tummy, sickness, nausea - honestly and you'll keep it down |
I have suggestions b/c I've never broke anything, but I do feel terrible you're in pain. I hope it goes away fast. |
So sorry you're in such pain, Deanna.
I agree with the others. Try and stay ahead of the pain with the medicines. See if either they can try a different pain med as some can be rough on the tummy. Or maybe they can even give you an anti-nausea medicine for right now. Try and find a comfy position and just stay there. |
Everyone sent good advice so far so I'm just sending a hug and warm thoughts.
Hope you feel better soon. Marianne |
Oh Deanna, I'm so sorry you have to go through this. |
So sorry you are in so much pain. Take care--sending special thoughts and prayers your way today. |
The problems I've found dealing with pain meds is they take 20-30 to kick in and then they never last the whole 4-6 hrs...usually 1 1/2-3 hrs if lucky. So what I did when I was suffering with my pain from shingles is I would take the next dosage as soon as I felt the one wearing off. That is how I stayed ahead of the pain. You have to eat something even if it is only bread. I found that easier to take into a sick tummy.
If the pain contiues you should go back to your drs or go to the Emergency Room and they will usually give you an injection...that will help you get control of the pain and then your oral meds should keep you going. Dealing with broken bones you are also dealing with alot of bruising which is also painful. Good luck, and I hope you feel better soon. You really should get back in touch with your dr so he knows what is going on. |
Poor Deana... I can SO sympathise with having one problem after another, it feels like it's just never going to end.
Heal! |
So sorry you are in pain. Staying ahead of the pain is the best advice: hard to do as there is often "break through pain" and nausea. Meds for the nausea are often given at the same time. They help to prolong the effects of the pain meds. All this will decrease with time. What did you break? I'm out of touch due to work etc. Love and hugs from all of us, especially Willoughby. |
I'm sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well.....
try your best to rest (sleep) as much as you can... I hope you feel better soon. |
