So is it normal or should it really be checked. I have no problem bringing him in again but then why confuse me? What if the level is still the same this time? |

The vet probably feels it's best to be sure the level's ok for this particular dog. This could be the case but it's best to err on the side of caution.
We just repeated testing on our 10 year old Schipperke-mix... her liver enzymes were slightly elevated a couple of months ago when we did annual bloodwork. Not a big deal, just retest. They did the test in-house this time and it came back so high it wouldn't register. They diluted by 50% and still couldn't get a reading. We had another blood sample sent to Idexx on Thursday to see if it there's something truly serious going on. She has no symptoms... So personally, I'd retest. |
Quote: Normal dog and cat BUN level is 10-20 milligrams/deciliter. Older dogs are often in the thirties or forties. Normal creatinine levels are 0.6 –1.2. It is much more serious when this number begins to rise.
http://www.2ndchance.info/kidney.htm Retest, 1.8 is too high. Maybe the lab misplaced a zero and it's really 1.08......retest. |
Yeah we will definitely retest with that info. thanks. |
