Is your wife home most of the time? Do you use a "doggy" door so the dog comes and goes as he pleases?
I came across this same problem when we moved to our new home a year ago. Our neighbors are much closer to us then in the old house. The dogs became barking maniacs. So what I had to do is everytime they barked when they shouldn't I would make them go in the house and I would close the doggy door for about a half hour....soon they learned when I told them to stop barking they would or they knew they would have to go in the house. Now I don't make them stop barking all the time because I consider them my security force...hopefully no one will bother a house with dogs. We have a lawn service that comes for our whole community all year round and it can take them up to three days to finish the whole community. They are back at our house a number of times during that time because for each thing they do only one person does it so it can get barking crazy here. The dogs now know that I tell them "it's the lawn service" and they come in the house and peek out the windows at them. Good luck with the barking... |
Thanks for the tip. Basically we are doing the same except closing the drapes as this is where she sits all day Now she pouts and stares at the drape until we open it after she barks |
