Asterisk does that, too. After she is bathed she'll go tearing through the house, as happy as a clam. She also loves to run through the sprinkler.
I always thought it was because the cool water helped cool down her body temperature. Erin |
I don't have a answer but I had to laugh, just to see this would be fun.
I do have a digger too. BIG holes that we will have to patch this summer. One is going under the deck...Ithink she thought she could get out of the yard, but hit a brick wall LOL |
Puppy behavior for sure. Life is full of new and exciting things. Wet objects smell, taste and feel good......I have a 12 year old mud dog who is happier wet and muddy than almost anything else. No, she's not in full coat.......give me a break
Digging..........that decreases a bit after two years, in the mean time expect to have the yard look like it's been carpet bombed. It all grows back.....eventually. |
Yep, Bally can't resist the urge to dig if the dirt is even the tiniest bit wet at least he lays good boobie-traps for the burglars |
Sunny goes bonkers when she's wet. She goes absolutely crazy after a bath. Also, we keep a kiddie pool in the backyard to wash her feet in, and if she gets anything more than her paws wet, watch out! The best is when we take her to a lake or river and she jumps in a wades calmly around, then all of a sudden, she goes streaking up and down the beach just back and forth, back and forth, and gets a crazed look in her eye It's pretty awesome, since she looks like a deer when she's wet only up to the middle of her body- all legs. I like to think of her as a cotton ball on toothpicks. |
My mud dog reminded me she's also into self drying.......on any low hanging plant......bushes and vines. Silly thing runs into the plants and rubs herself on the foliage and stems. So not only is she wet, she also has leaves, twigs, old flowers and probably bird poop on her fur. Even as oldsters these are still crazy dogs. |
hide the spade! |
Bella is the sameaccept her prefered palce to dig is at the sprinkler heads so we not only get a wet muddy dog we also get a broken sprinkler. Ya got to love em though. |
I have to say, the digging stopped for Kirby after about his first birthday. He still loves to run after his bath. I agree, I think he just feels so good and cool. We have tried the pool idea in the backyard. He usually just does a walk around.

After a bath, even though she has been blown dry before being allowed out of the bathroom, she still goes nuts running through the house. We usually have to put her in her crate for a few minutes to settle her down. |
