Tugged at my heart especially Leo too.
Also tears of joy for them, they are so sweet. |
I am soo glad for those that have been given a new life. It kills me to think of what they went thru and what happened to all those that didn't make it out....
I wish they had not let him out-- but-- not my decision! (sigh) |
You know, it's a big story around here since he lives nearby and they've been giving it a lot of coverage. I know I'm probably going to get flamed, but I feel like if he's reformed then we should give him another chance. He's going to work with the Humane Society (his idea, apparently) about education youth about the evils of dog fighting. If you think of his background and if fighting is acceptable, then he was just doing what he learned to do from a young age. If he actually goes and teaches these young people about how awful dog fighting is, they will listen to him, not only because he's famous, but because he's had to do time for it. And that could be a good thing. Obviously I think what he did was horrible, but I really do hope he's changed. |
I think "He decided" to do this was because his reputation is screwed ...not out of the goodness of his heart. I totally understand where you're coming from, but I just think it's a certain kind/type of person who enjoys doing and watching this sort of crap, and not only did he deserve the prison time... but he doesn't deserve any fame anymore imo. I think it's good he's doing this, but I'm just saying he doesn't deserve his old life back ...how I view "second chance." |
I don't think he'll ever have his old life back. He was in the height of his career, with tons of endorsements. Even if he DOES get to play in the NFL again, I bet it won't be at his former price and I'm sure companies like Nike won't be knocking on his door. And they say the average NFL career is about 3.5 years--he'd already done like 7 or something like that, so there's a good chance he won't be around much longer anyway.
I guess I'm just 'hoping' for genuine change. I just think, based on how messed up his whole family is, that he didn't come from the best background, which can lead to less than reputable lifestyles, lots of time done out of ignorance, so I'm just hoping that he learned from his mistake and realized how awful it was and that he can prevent future generations from engaging in dog fighting. I know I'm dreaming with all this, but it's what I'm hoping (not that I like the guy, though...) |
We don't know what his motives are for taking this new role with the ASPCA. However, if he can reach just a few children or adults in his new position, it's worthwhile. He brings a celebrity, no matter how tarnished or disgusting that is an asset and he should be used ( ). |
Yeah and then "Poor Mike" can possibly explain to the families of the dogs he admitted to have stolen and used as "bait" just how nice a guy he is. |
May he rot in...oh well me & my opinions.
I am a huge football fan ( Steelers of course ) and IMHO he should be permanently banned from the NFL especially with their new hardline regulations on the field. He is not a role model we want for our kids. The NFL should be more worried about the off field criminal antics of their players and less about a victory dance in the endfield. And I'm not just referring to Vick. Remember the Pete Rose illegal gambling scandel years ago? It ended his baseball career and he was betting on legal sports. Vick was betting on an illegal activity and abusing/killing dogs to boot. If pro-sports had a policy of convicted of a felony..forefet a career and the multi-million $$ paycheck they could clean up pro-sports. Just my opinion. |
