So off to the Vet we go. The Vet checked him over and couldn't find anything. I asked him if he checked for Giardia. He said he saw no reason for it. I told him we had been to the dog park and Simon had been drinking puddles(yes, I did stop him). He stuck his head back out the door and told the tech to check for it. Yes, Simon has Giardia. Yes, we are treating BOTH dogs for it even though Gar shows no signs. Same house and same water bowl. We explained about Sheepiepalozza and he said by then(three days) Simon should not be contagious. The third dose will be friday and friday is the day we will be arriving. If anyone wants to object to us being there.... |

Oh sorry your boys aren't feeling well - How do you think they will manage the long trip? My guys have never had giardia - maybe it responds more quickly than other upsets. |
Kerry, this is a first for us. Neither have had it before. I mentioned it to the Vet because I've heard of dogs on here who have had it.
I think the drive(6hrs) should be fine. Simon is not acting any different...eating, drinking, and wrestling with Gar as before. Its just the runny poo and getting us up in the middle of the night thats different. Dh got up with him for two of the three nights and is not amused. |

Morgan does that sooo often. Its when I am the happiest about the radio fence! Dan is insisting i leave Morgan home because its going to be so hot and he is afraid it will make him sick again. i know he will be happier - but I feel guilty |
I don't know how contagious they'd be by that time but I would have to say that it takes a bit longer than that for the runny stool to improve. So that in itself could be a pain in the butt for you. Just my opinion. I won't be there. Stuck back here in Ohio as I've been gone the last 5 weekends at dogs shows! |
Tonks and Luna haven't seen their vet in AGES; and they miss her.
They say bring Simon! |

He is part of your family now...so he is part of ours!!!! Can't wait to meet him!!!!! As long as Simon is feeling good, I see no reason NOT to bring him.... |
I'm sorry to hear that Simon has been ill. I hope he feels better soon and you/hubby get some much needed sleep. |
Yeah, giardia (and coxsidia) are no fun. My dale had giardia once. It took about 5 days to clear up completely once I started him on the medication.
It's funny how the vets don't check for those two things in a regular stool sample examination. |
I hope Simon gets to come - and is feeling better so everyone gets to sleep. |
ohhhHHHH Dawn...I really hopes Simon can come TOO!!!!!!! |
