We stayed at that very hotel over Christmas...nothing special, but nothing terrible either. It was recently "remodeled," but didn't seem brand-spanking new remodeled.
If you do stop there, there is an AWESOME restaurant called Avanti's that is like a small-town Italian place. We always stopped there on the way down to Florida and on the way back up to Minnesota. We also would buy their gondola bread (like dozens of loaves) and freeze them. My dad went to Illinois State and would always go there. The gondola sandwiches are like 15 inches long, and although the meat and cheese isn't anything special....the bread is the best and makes the sandwich! My mom loved the pasta salads and I liked the baked pasta. They have a take-out part of the restaurant too. Oh, and Maggie LOVES the gondolas too!!! She ripped through the bag of sandwiches and had a half of one in less then 5 minutes! Let me know if you want any more information. Beware of the one-way streets, they can be a bit confusing. |
