When we lived in Longmont (just outside of Boulder CO) there was an artist whose subject matter was Polar Bears. She works in pencil, water color, pastel, and oil. Subject matter for most picutres are so unlikely, and yet it works. I'm very fussy about what I put on my walls and will leave them bare until I find exactly what I want. I purchase one limited print, Bear at Piano( http://barbarastone.fineartworld.com/ar ... itByCatID= ), and one original, Listening (not on her web site). I have always wanted to purchase, Landscape for Rebirth and Simpatico. The pictures hang in my office and I wonder everyday why I'm attracted to the subject matter. Today, as I looked at them I realized, put a shaggy gray and white coat on the bear and you got a Sheepdog. Go figure. |

I love polar bears too--and they have always reminded me of my beloved sheepies in some way! Probably why I like them! |
We were the same way, nothing until we found who we liked, now are walls are full so not looking.
For us it was subject/skill or "feeling" and finally artist. Granted once we found an artist, we were drawn to his or her work. Initially western/southwestern themes (duh) but last few have been western landscapes with heavy emphasis on the sky.......with a bit more "feel" than actual detail correctness. http://www.angusmacpherson.com/pages/1_frameset/1_frameset.html |
