This reminded me of a commercial where a man delivered food and sung opera (I think) to a woman, whose name might have been Rose. I also seem to recall it was for Meals on Wheels or a similar agency. Does anyone remember this commercial or any more details about it? |

I don't remember the commercial, but I was sure glad to see Annie take the shot. I was soooo tired of hearing her whine and bi**h about Joan. She needs to grow a better sense of humor and sportsmanship. |
I dunno.... While I was pleased at the outcome, I thought Joan's attacks against her and Clint were way over the top, a little crazy and certainly unprofessional.
I think Annie was a gamer, and played the game, and I really didn't hear/see anything coming from her that rivaled the venom spewing from Joan. I REALLY enjoyed the scene where Annie was going on about Joan to Tom, losing sight of the fact that Tom is a comedian and not hearing him and understanding that he was saying "I don't want to participate in this conversation, Joan is a hero of mine". THE moment was when Tom said: "She got under your skin" and Annie denied it emotionally. When he said it for the second time it really struck her: She was "on tilt," a poker term meaning that she had let emotion cloud her judgement. She sat back into the seat of the van in realization. While I don't think Joan was playing Annie (although it's a remote possibility) I think she was being genuine in her disgust for her approach and profession. Her (self serving) mention of a new way of doing business where money is given with love rather than taken away really came back to the attack of what poker players are all about. I believe she really does feel that way about poker players. The event planner was clearly out of his league, and I am guessing that after he quit he asked his colleague what she was doing for Annie's team and when he found out -- he was really afraid of being completely outclassed, and as the owner he could have that happen. In all fairness, Annie gave great direction while Joan was no help with inspiration. But then Joan's idea to call her charity for help in putting on the event that would benefit them was a stroke of pure brilliance!!! OF COURSE they would go all out to help out -- it meant $250,000 for them! What I don't get is the response from everyone in support of Joan! Were people supporting Joan because of her fierce motherly defense of Melissa? Were they supporting her attack of Annie's profession? Were they supporting her because of respect for her age? Because of her heartfelt connection to her charity? Do they just like her? All of the above? I really would have thought that the people would be supporting Annie... I was pleasantly shocked! |
As ususal, I watch TV in 30-90 second snapshots while doing something else so didn't get to see all the intrigue, just highlights.
BUT, I did sit to watch the conversation with Tom, loved it! I have an entirely new opnion of Tom Greene. Annie needed someone to bring her back on point. She was spending way too much time obsessing about Joan when she needed her strength to come up with a creative solution. As for Joan playing Annie, I think it was a win for age/wisdom over youth. I don't beleive Joan built a multi-national, successful business without knowing how to call the game. Joan knows how to get it done, under the radar. I particulary enjoyed Joans call to her good friend while he was attending his mothers funeral service. She knew him so well and is such a good friend, she handled the situation flawlessly and got his backing. As for the Party Planner, you are spot on, he was way over his head. |
Interestingly, I looked up God's Love We Deliver when Joan first mentioned it on the show a while back, and I had forgotten what I had found there....

Or planning for good TV. The Donald would never leave a situation uncontrolled. |
