I believe this stuff is good for Hot Spots, a lot of people recommend it,
Goldbond Medicated Powder Plus maybe clipping the area and trying to keep it as dry as possible and letting the air to the sore. If the hot spot is a big one and really bad and looking like it is increasing in size then a vet should be consulted to help clear it up, you might need more to help then, like an oral anti-biotic in conjunction with a vet precribed medicated cream to apply to the area.. |
Ditto Lisa. I have used Gold Bond Medicated Powder in the past & it helps. If it doesn't clear up you do need to get to the vet. As my vet expained, it turns into a staph infection where it heals & itches & they chew & open it up again & then the cycle starts all over again. Sometimes topical just isn't enough. Knock on wood, I've had no hot spots in years. Only had them with my very first OES back in the 80's.
I do dust the crevices of their pads after shaving & private parts too with the Gold Bond. Helps dry up the feet & keep them smelling nice & relieves the itching after shaving in the other area! |
The Gold Bond is a good suggestion. I think I'll try it for Barney. Do you think it'll work for the places he's chewed raw? Or is that a whole different thing that requires something else? It's not to the point where he needs antibiotics to clear it, but it's not far from that |
If it's raw I would maybe consider a cone (e collar) til it at least heals a little bit? |
Oh, he's rockin' the cone already
They are the leftover spots that aren't healed but aren't raw anymore. |
Steph it would not hurt to give the medicated powder a try on Barney. Might help, might not, but worth a try to see if it helps |
