http://laweekly.blogs.com/joshuah_bearm ... odle-.html This style of creative dog grooming is very competitive overseas And I thought show grooming and trimming on an OES took forever I'll never complain ever again |
|
I've just finished giving my Mum's mini poodle a brush and a trim this morning. I'm going to show her these, she spent the whole time whinging and moaning at me, yelping and carrying on as if I was cutting her leg of instead of just brushing it.
She has no right to complain after looking at those grooming efforts. Not for me. |
Ugly, Ugly, Ugly |
Thats awful. |

I agree, just not right to do that to a dog. Hope it does not ever catch on as a fad. Here is a link from the owner of the dog justifying this sort of extreme grooming, right or wrong just not good IMO http://www.pinkcoyote.net/creativegrooming.html |
yick! I have been watching a show called the groomer has it and the did an episode on that. |
This is what happens when you take a perfectly good dog bred for a perfectly good purpose (hunting) and render them useless. I think as OES owners we should learn from the sad plight of the proud poodle hunting heritage and march our dogs off to find some sheep immediately!
Actually, I think it was pretty cool. Especially love the peacock. You have to admit it takes some real creativity and talent and some dogs love the attention, so if the dyes they use are safe, who cares? You have people wheeling their dogs around in strollers and performing wedding ceremonies, dressing them up in halloween costumes and a long list of other humiliating non-doglike things for their own amusement. It's a good thing our dog's love us (where is that e-mail that used to circulate giving pictorial reasons for why dogs bite? ) Besides, our dogs look almost equally surreal in the breed ring, just, you know, less colorful Though I do believe I may have seen a gray and white camel or two... Considering how to trim Sybil into the goat she is at heart... Kristine |
Oh dear lord, it's like a parade float threw up. On the one
hand I think it's disturbing, but on the other hand I think it would be so much fun to do. Every time I shave the dogs down I leave something long just for fun. Either a ruffle around the neck or big fluffy feet, or a big long beard. But this.... extreme for sure. Shellie |
I think I could have a lot of fun with the color
wonder where you get it and how well it washes out? |
Pet edge sells those colors. I had a Standard Poodle and she loved it when she was all groomed up. She was quite a prissy thing. They are excellent playmates for a sheepie too. At least their minds are still intact, as she was too smart.
I some times think I should dress Bella as a goat too Kristine, as she eats anything she thinks might possibly be edible...most are not. Argh!! |

Do they wash out easily (I can see my breeder having a heart attack if not )? |
That I do not know. I just know I have seen them. That is a white poodle she did all that stuff to, so I would guess it's not too difficult to remove. |

I think Jenny should be right there with them in goat costume, I am for ever pulling things out of her mouth that she shouldn't have! |
It's not for me but I think it's amazing. They all did an incredible job. |

To each there own but in this case I feel that this is in fact much worse than awful. To me this isn't grooming, rather it is treating a dog as a fashion accessory (a la Paris Hilton and her Chihuahua) or even worse as a toy that is easy come, easy go. And there are those that wonder why rescue organizations are so busy!! I started to watch one of the early "Groomer Has It" episodes and they were doing this sort of stuff at which point I moved on to the next channel and have never gone back to that show. Most certainly not my choice. Aaahhhhh, minor rant in the middle of the workday feels good for a few minutes. Thanks and Cheers Carl |
well actually it is more like using the dog as a canvas than a fashion acessory. Not my choice either (although I still think a little color now and then could be fun) but in the greater scheme of things - not awful (IMHO) they treat the dogs well, they are clean and it is a way in which to focus on the need for proper grooming. |
