So it all started again. In a way I'm glad because it really showed that it seems to be an environmental allergy, which we couldn't really figure that out definitively before. BUT, the poor puppy is all red and itchy again...and the cone is once again his constant companion (the baby loves it, though--she laughs hysterically when she sees him coming ). It's supposed to rain all this week so hopefully that'll clear some of this junk out and he can stop being so miserable. |

Have you tried bathing him with salycilic acid shampoo (head and shoulders blue I think) ? If its yeast related it might help. SOunds like our Irish though when he hears there is a flea in the house |
Poor Barney, I know you guys have been struggling with these issues for such a long time. Hopefully now that you know that it is environmental there might be something he can take to relieve his discomfort.
Big Hugs Barney.. it's no fun being itchy |
kerry--no, we haven't tried the Head and Shoulders. Interesting. I think we have some at home, so maybe we'll give him a bath this weekend. I'm sure he'll love it |
Part 1- Shave down the fur between the pads and a bit between the toes so
the feet dry fast and don't hold all the natural moisture or that of the dog licking their feet. http://oesusa.com/Shave.jpg I take all the brown fur off so the area can breath/dry. Part 2- Malaseb shampoo is effective in treating yeast. Apply, leave on for 10 minutes, then rinse off. Blow feet dry. Do this once a week until symptoms subside. Yeast problems are easier to fix than allergies. |
