And because of many tight money situations, and not being able to afford the new car of my dreams, I've decided to purchase a used (but in great shape) car. Yesterday, I bought a 2007 black Toyota Rav4!!! I love it! Brought it home and let the dogs all jump in the back, to make sure they liked it too. Tony works for Toyota now, so I'm not too nervous about it being used, since I have my own, person Toyota Service Advice Now, I have to put my own personal touches on it! Yes, it will be at the SheepieFest! Hackney's onyum loaf fest today! |
|
Drive it in good health!!! Pics are needed... |
Congrats to you. Its nice to read a upbeat post!!! ood Luck with it.
We got ours last Sat. and love it to. |
Yes, when Ravs first came out several people told me it was ideal for dogs since there was room in the back and the jump up wasn't all that high.....plus they are fun to drive. So I'm sure you and the pups are thrilled! |
Congrats! |
Congrats Deb!!!
does this mean I have to sell my Vibe and get a Matrix to support Tony? |
We have a Toyota RAV as well.
I love that the back door opens out intstead of up. It was much easier to teach Tiggy to wait and not jump straight out as soon as there's an open door. Have fun!!! |
Congrats!!! |
VAROOOOM oooh there goes deb in her new car
CONGRATS on the new set of wheels |
Congrats on the wheels
There seems to be a trend here.....OES Mommy, you, and me with new vehicles. Anyone else? |
Good choice!! Congrats. I really like them. |
Have a blast........we did the same thing! Tiny practical car... Now we have to shove the sheepies in! We are in the market too! |
I took my new car to our SheepieFest! lunch today. It's really the first time I've driven it for more than 1 or 2 miles. All I have to say is: I LOVE IT !!! I feel much more at home in it than I ever did in the other car (especially after my accident last summer!) Now...time to pick a name. Any suggestions? It's definately a BOY! |
I bought a 2006 Honda CRV and I love mine too. Very similar to the Rav with the door opening the same way in the back. Our 3 furkids just love it. Husband has the bigger v6 Nissan Pathfinder for towing our trailer and longer trips but for a run about in town this compact SUV's are the bomb ! |
I'd like to see a pic, I wonder how different your RAV4s are to ours?
I had a Daihatsu Terios which is similar, but a little smaller. Mine was black too, I called him Tatsu which is Japanese for dragon- it honestly looked like one somehow!! I like keeping the initial of the car make. How about Tommy? Or Tav like the letter? Or Resh come to think of it. |
How about Rahj? You could shorten it to Raj the RAV |
I don't know about a name, but make sure its a name you like. I have a 2000 RAV4 with 272,000 miles on it and I will be driving it to sheepiepalooza this year.
I drove Dan's car last year and hated it! My dogs love the RAV and when this one has had it (maybe two more years?) I plan on getting another one. |
I must have dreamt it but, I thought I saw something
about quintessential in one of your posts! Anyway that would be a good full name and you could call him Quin for short! Of course, still waiting on Ron's suggstion |
Timmy |

Quintessential happens to be one of my favorite words, that I think is under used...so I use it whenever possible . Ron? Timmy? I was waiting for your suggestion of "Ronny". |
I was simply waiting for you to reject Timmy. |

Kind of funny to read this... a few years ago I bought a mini van, something I thought I'd never do, but loved it for a while. With kids and dogs it just made sense, and all the show gear that you accumulate over the years boggles the mind. Now, my kids are pretty much grown, I have more compact dog show crap and don't really think I care if the dogs mind riding in the back seat to the shows or the vet etc.... I want something fun to drive! The van I think will only last another year or two.... so I want a Mazda 3 or something similar... |

Haha..I was thinking when I read Deb's blog about her new car that I raised 4 children and never bought a Mini Van. I did, however, buy a Mini Van last year to cart the dogs around in and I love it! (I also have a convertible)[/i] |
Ha Ha...you may remember a few backs, Tony bought an old beat up mini van, that we called, "the shaggin' waggin". But he sold it... |
Ralph
I wonder if "shaggin Waggin" means the same over there as it means here If so then "Ralph" is a good name for the new set of wheels |
His name is officially......
CHARLIE! (My daughter named him after some charater on Gossip Girls named Charles Bass. I hope that's good, I've never seen the show.) |
Charlie Bucket? |

kerry wrote: lisaoes wrote: Ralph I wonder if "shaggin Waggin" means the same over there as it means here Only to fans of the mike Meyers movies I think Yea...probably. It started out as the shaggy wagon, and morphed into the shaggin' waggin' |
Congratulations...how fun |
So, where's Charlie's picture???? |
Congrats! |
Congrats!! |
congrats , hope you enjoy it |
Thank you all. Since my accident (in Aug) and the robbery (in Oct) where my car keys were stolen, I never felt secure in the old car. I love the new car, ah.....suv. Thanks for the good wishes. The car, ah, Charlie, is great and I finally feel secure! |
This must be something in the air! or after tax season accountants telling everyone they need to buy a car......... i bought a new one last week too.
Not a "NEW" new one, but ait only has 40,000 miles on it! It is a lease turn back. I only had 2 requirements: I wanted a car with built in navigation system and 2 it had to have a V8......(yes i like my vroom vroom.......... especially when driving in Texas/Oklahoma/NM/Western states in particular). I bougth a silver Volvo XC90 LOADED....... i mean, i have dvd's in the back of the driver and passener front seats so the dogs can watch movies ! along with rear air conditioning. I told Norm when i told him he had bought me my anniversary and mothers day present (HA) he was a wonderful man. He asked me what i bought him! I said a ticket for me to come see you next week. We can debate over who gets the wagon and who gets the XC90 when he comes home, if he ever does................ And i feel SAFER in it than i did in the Volvo XC70 wagon! It's bigger and higher. let em try to hit me know. plus a 6 cd changer......... now i can put my whole books on cd in at once when i start out on a trip. |

Lucky Dogs!!! My kids complain about me not having rear air (Hubby has it in the Mini Van, but I don't drive Mini Vans, unless I have no choice.) Luckily, they don't know anything about DVD's for cars. Maybe a newer car with less miles and rear air... maybe a DVD screen or two is in order here. I have other things to handle first.... but maybe soon. Lord knows a DVD player may be just the thing I need to keep me from going insane listening to the kids bicker and fight on drives to my parent's house. No wonder it's been a couple a months since I have gone to see Mom and Dad. |
Ali, I used to work for Volvo. They are WONDERFUL vehicles! Congrats! I've always loved the X90, ever since it came out....it's just out of my budget. My car is a lease turn in too. More and more people are buying used. Much more bang for your buck. And I know (as you probably do too) that most leases are better maintained then privately owned cars, especially if they came with the maintenance program. Congrats! We are such cool girls! |

My mini van has a dvd player/tv in it and the only time I've used it is when we took Amy to Miami. She would pop in a movie to take her mind off things. lol We should get a lot of use out of it this June when we head to MI to pick up Jenah, my granddaughter. Maybe I can sneek back and sit/lay on Violet's couch. and watch tv/movies during the 20 hr drive. |
you can buy dvd packages that loop over the front seat for around $100 I believe. Much less than buying a new car to get one. |

Yeah, I have seen those, but they seem like too much drama, for me at least. I'd have to take them out and put them in each time I wanted to use it. (too much temptation for the local car thieves.) I'd rather have a built in one and I am not spending that kind of money on my 9 year old car. Besides I think my current car shakes too much for a DVD to play properly. |
My car is 9 yo as well. I throw DVDs in a PDVD player or the laptop for long trips. |
Tony and I have a portable dvd thingie, that has never been used. He received it as a prize for something. For the last 2 years, we've brought it to SheepieFest! and put it on the silent auction table, and no one has ever bid on it Sad, because it's really a nice one. |
I do have a portable one, just not one that straps to the seat.
I know my kids would fight over who gets to hold it, so it sits in the closet. Kerry, I need an excuse to get a newer car. Besides my high mileage and shakes and shimmies. |
Bet I have you beat on mileage (even before I drive to St Louis in a few weeks) |
I have 119,000 , what do you have? |
Hah- 272,000+ |

As someone who currently has kids around your kids age... You're thinking is DEAD ON!!!!!! When we bought our last car, we went for the works w/o the dvd player because we'll just "add on" later. It's cheaper big time!!!! Boy do we regret it. Getting it later usually means it has to go in the middle console or of course the options that attach to the backseat, and we just didn't like how unstable they were. We found a place that lets you install in the front, but there are things they can't do that only the manufacturer can. Definitely go with one in it!! So much easier to change dvd's when kids are demanding a dvd! |
kerry wrote: Hah- 272,000+
I don't think my car would make it to that. |
I plan on making it to 320,000 at least. |
