See my garden grow!

Here is a picture from Fall 2007:

And here is roughly the same area taken today:

I love bulbs -- such a splash of color! And the perennials are getting bigger too.

Same area looking toward the detached garage:

And here is the front. I hung hanging baskets today which look really charming but you can't see them so well in this picture. The perennials in front were planted last summer and still have some growing to do. . .

I love how everything is coming along. . .

Just lovely Val! Amazing how much things have grown! I really like the different varieties of plants in the back. Just lovely!

Does Maggie bother any thing?
As you might imagine, Maggie goes tearing through squirrel hunting but it is all holding up pretty well. It seems surprisingly sturdy. She has a couple of spots that she has chosen for her dog pits (shallow holes she digs to lay down) and to bury bones but otherwise, she leaves stuff alone.

Max does the same thing. hasn't actually dog anything up for a few years, but I found bones and toys buried deep in the mulch this weekend when cleaning out the flower beds. And of course the tell tale sign of the mulch all ove him is a dead give awayl

Again, just a lovely yard. It feels so calming. I bet you love sitting outside, enjoying the view.
That is looking really nice, Val!

I just love perennials, and filling in with color splashes of annuals for a bit of color. :D
Great garden :D Is that a Rhino I can see? Bally would be constantly spooking himself if I had one of those in the yard, but it looks amazing
It looks lovely Val, as it's my 1st spring here I'm going to take pics of all the stuff just starting to peek their heads up and then will take more later so I will know whats what next year
Oh that is so lovely. You guys have such nice houses over there, really spacious and well designed including the outside areas. Did you paint the fence and the house the same colour or were they already like that? It looks fab.
Your gardens look beautiful Val. Everything is coming together very nice.
I just love everything about your place!!!!!!!!!!!! I love seeing pics of it. I think plants and flowers really liven it up!

Actually, the fence used to be just plain wood and the yard was mostly grass with some scruffy plants. The patio was concrete and very awkward.

The grass was nice but it high maintenance / high water for Colorado. I had it replaced with mostly native plants that require less water. I painted the fence to match the house and to make it kind of blend into the background.

Here's another view:

I got the Rhino and the Crocodile from my dad's garden when he passed on. They are hugely sentimental for me:

It's all so beautiful! You've done a fantastic job with it and the hard work is paying off. You have lovely taste. :)
I see the rhino, did you keep the other "larger" pets?

Lovely yard, adorable house!

Thank you! I am not sure which other larger pets you mean. I have the rhino, crocodile and that silly Bambi statue from my dad's. The other animals were distributed to other family members. I love my house. I am always trying to make it look like a B&B with excessive outdoor seating, flowers, candles, etc. I live in the kind of neighborhood where neighbors stop by to catch up over a glass of wine. Maggie has a spot on the porch where she gets to share in the socializing too. It is very very nice.
So pretty......love spring!
Absoutley beautiful Val, I love your front entrance, you can never have enough flowers to welcome people.
Yeah, the crock ........that was the other one.

There's a Victorian neighborhood here that keeps trying to "come back." There are several really cute houses but sadly many are still.......just "old."
How cool, a Rhino and a Crock in your backgarden! Max and Charlie would love that!

I adore your garden as it looks so lovely, especially also the front of the house with the Veranda where you got your chairs to sit outside! That's typical "American" for me as I've seen it in all the movies!! Beautiful, very very beautiful!!! :D
Val it is soooo pretty. Your front porch reminds me of one of my favorite B&B's on the Cape.
WOW I love your house and your yard. I have so much shade it's hard to plant anything. Do you mulch every year?
