I sometimes shave with this blade - it is close. It is the best choice if the dog is matted. |
For years I only did the dogs with a #10 and my DH uses it solely if he's clipping. I find the coat is reallllly short and puppers can get sun burn skin. They come out looking like a greyhound.....be prepared.......a tailess greyhound. (I just had to put a t-shirt on Glacier as she was done with a 10. She'll grow out in a few weeks.)
As said above, it's a good blade if you have mats as it slips under them easily. ALWAYS go with the direction of the hair growth.....sometimes it's a guess. If you go against, the cut is even shorter We use a # 5 or 3.75 (only mat free for this) and use a 10 for the lower legs and feet. Since it cuts quickly the dogs don't have time to dance so much. Also the 10, or a 7, is used for bum cleaning. Stop by a pet supply store and get blade wash and blade lube, it will help keep the blade cool (er). Take your time. You may have to do half a dog, stop and let the clippers cool and come back and finish. |
