I was reading about some 'tests' for dogs to see how smart they are. One of the 'tests'...place treats under an opaque cup and see how long it takes the dog to figure out how to get the treats. THE TEST>>>>>> I showed ALL the dogs treats..those prime cuts so they are really smelly and good!!! I used a red tinted plastic cup so they could see the treats..(I know, I know, I cheated a little.) THE RESULTS.....(Cosmo won!!!!!! but not legally!!!) Here is what happened... They ALL smelled the cup. Pearl didn't feel it was worth her time, so she went to the tuffet to watch the action!!! That left Coz and Heart. They both kept smelling the cup, then Coz backed off. Heart started to push the cup around the floor...push, smell the floor.... push, smell the floor.... push.... get it??? Then all of a sudden....................Heart picked the cup up off the floor, and carried it to the tuffet, which left Coz free EAT all the treats!!!! |

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!! Tough call. Though it pains me to say so , it is quite possible that the boy dog won... Unless Heart prefers plastic cups...? Just this morning I picked up a bunch of new bones for the guys. Shank. Individually wrapped so it takes a little while to get them out of the packaging. I was MUGGED. The lone boy dog, who up until just co-inciding with his third birthday, come to think of it, displayed only the slightest hint of viable cognitive function, SAT DOWN. And waited. His sisters all but crawled up on the counter to get to the bones. I never asked him to sit. He just decided to do so. He's also sitting before he gets his dinner. I made the foster dog do this for months, but never any of my guys. In fact, in any kind of group setting he has decided that to stand out means doing something I usually praise him for doing, I guess, so he sits nicely while I glare at his irreverent sisters. Needless to say I gave him the first bone. I may have to rethink my whole "boy dogs are dumber than dirt" thesis. Kristine |

They are not dumb - usually quite smart - but very, very clueless. Like many males I know. |

Naah nothing to think about, sheepie girls in the brains department are way smarter and clever. Poor Syd with females to outsmart him. Dumb Dumb is clueless and outsmarted everytime by the girls. Hey Coz is just working on the theory "A way to a Mans Heart is through the stomach" So heart obliged by removing the obsticle (ala Cup) Clever girl |

You haven't met "dumb as a bag of hammers" Chap yet. Winston - BRILLIANT. Lacy - GENIUS. Chap. <sigh> |
So I tried the test... Clueless is so correct, but very smart.
I placed the treat under the cup while Obe was sleeping then waited for him wake. He walked over looked at cup, smelled, and walked away with no interest at all. I mentioned treat and he walked to food bowl... hmmm? I showed him the cup and treat again. He walked over tilted cup, just a little not enough to knock over, ate treat...then pushed cup around the kitchen floor. |
Well Shon you pushed it around a bit and a treat seemed to appear under there, so Obe just gave it a try. Never know your luck. |
Chandi never found the treat.... i had to give it to him after an hour or so. |
