As of today Sat. April 25th we have one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our car got worse.... Over $2800 in repairs plus. For a older car not worth it. So we bought a New "used: Van ( 8 years newer) From a dealer. 1 owner car just turned it. Pontiac Montana. Very nice. 2 yrs of warrenty from bumper to bumper including a loner if repairs are needed. Hope we did the right thing. We think we did. |

I hope you enjoy your new car.
I'm sure you did the right thing if the old one was starting to cost money! Once one thing goes it can start to snowball. |
Congrats! I'm sure you all made the right decision. I just went through the car buying process last week, replacing a 10 year old car that was going to need $$$ repairs. Know what you mean by starting car payments again!
I also think I need an engineering degree to figure out all the "things" |
Congrats!
I plan on keeping my car forever. It is paid for and I know some guys who can make any repairs needed on it for cheap (my older son and friends). My husband is trying to talk me into a new car though. My son has one that I really like - not all practical and way more than I think would pay for a car. Did I mention that I really like it? |
I've had 3 Montanas including my current one - very solid, no major issues whatsoever. Hope you enjoy it. |
Thanks for the info RDF. We have the carfax also. Nothing wrong.
Mom Of 3... The engine would have to be torn down on the old. At least 10 days plus just for that. Then there was a list so long I don't care who could do the work. When your looking at 3 grand then its time to cut your losses. ITS JUNK!!!! This car was 13 yrs old! almost 14. |
i'm getting ready to buy something else. I love my volvo xc70 station wagon and can take 2 dogs and all their stuff and mine to a show. the seat is just comfortable.............andit is safe. The gas milage is not bad either... 500 miles to a tank. I was debating trading it on a new one for the next 5 years as it is out of warranty this year.
But i went to look around and found the XC 90 the SUV. a 2006 with40,000 miles on it. I think i am just going to buy it flat out, have mine totally serviced out by Volvo and keep them both. That way Norm will have one when he comes home too. I will probably give him the wagon though, lol as the suv has the built in navigator............ which is what i want !! lol. i know i can just go buy one but........... something neat about having the toy 'built in'. |

My son was a mechanic for the dealership where I bought my car, so he and his mechanic friends would do it for parts and minimal cost. My problem would be that they would try to modify it - it's a 2005 Mustang. My son keeps talking about what they do to it. Just be aware that CarFax is only worth what is put in the report. My husband pulled one up for a friend on a 6 mo old truck. CarFax showed it clean, but visably it had been in a major wreck. The group of dealerships that my husband works for enter everything - from oil changes, to required service checks to repairs. There are a lot of places that don't have access to CarFax. |
Congrats, OESMommy!
Drive your new car in good health. |

Ours also was VERY rusted under it. Lines needed replacement ect. You are so lucky to have someone to do repairs. We are at the mercy of a garage. |
Glad you got a car that you like. I hope it gives you many many years.
Mr. J is really really really really trying to push for a new king ranch ford 250 b/c the prices right now are unreal, but I can't quite decide if we should since his car is in perfect working condition and has many years left (it's a 2005). I grew up keeping cars three times longer than he probably would. He keeps telling me he wants to sell the older car while it's worth something, but he'll say anything to get the truck. |
