OHHH Kerry...I am so sorry..Root canals are the pits!!! |
Kerry, welcome to my world.
Sorry this is freaking you out. I think you just need to get used to the idea. Its better then losing the tooth. |

Na ah....not highjacking your thread |
It's not for old people!
I had my one and only root canal in my late 20's. |

I had my one and only root canal in my late 20's. I had one in my 30's! It sounds a lot worse than it really is. Getting past the novocaine shots was the worst part for me |
I had one several years ago, the most painful part was the cost |
Everybody or every root canal is different. My brother has an issue with his teeth that my dad had (I can't remember what it's called!) where he had to have a root canal on practically every tooth. He had them in his late teens/early 20s with no pain meds whatsoever. They are just an hour or two in the chair to him.
I had ONE root canal when I was 32 and I won't have another - if I have a need I'm having the tooth pulled. And I had natural childbirth so don't tell me I'm a wimp! |

I had my one and only root canal in my late 20's. Same here! one in my late 20's AND NEVER AGAIN I would rather go to dentures now. I am not kidding. I hate dentists |
Half a dozen between my wife and I. But then we are those "old" people you mentioned. Of course the other bad news is after getting one the protocol includes a nice cap or crown to ensure that the tooth stays in one piece for the rest of your life. I skipped that part the first time and paid the price about 12 years later when the original tooth finally broke and needed significant additional work done. Good luck most Dentists usually like to do this proceedure over a few visits. That way there is less trauma to the area. |
I'm sorry you have to have a root canal done. I've had one done when I was in my 30's and the only pain I remember having is when the Dentist forgot to take out one of the roots. My tooth was one that should have had only 4 roots, but it had 5, so I went back the next day and everything was taken care of. That is the only pain I really remember.
Good luck! |
I've never had one either, but I have to say I'd be freaked out too. I hate going to the dentist. |
I've had wonderful root canals........OK, that doesn't sound right. But when the dentist was finished I was amazed it was over and done w/o much trouble....other than having to keep my mouth open......that jaw thing. Dentist knew and kindly let be take frequent breaks.
No, wait, the first one they forgot to give me the antibiotics and I ended up calling the dentist on a Saturday night, got him out of a basketball game. A quick trip to the 24 hour pharmacy and a few pills, I was go to go again. |
I had a root canal a few years ago... it was no different than any other filling to me (though I realize there is more involved).
Pain doesn't bother me, it's the sound of the drill that drives me nuts. |
OH!!!!! no!!! I hate the dentist!!!!!!!!! |
