The lady I saw is a qualified herbalist and iridologist. I told her what I have- underactive thyroid, Sjogren's syndrome, Rheumatoid Arthritis and some other bits and pieces. I've been ill for the last 3 years, not able to work for the last year. As soon as I mentioned each thing, she knew my symptoms and which herbal remedies would be best for each one. I don't think a lot of GPs know that much about what I have and my mum had not mentioned any of it. I was impressed, and relieved. I was in her office for 2 hours, during which time she carefully noted everything I said, asked me questions, and answered all mine. She explained all the things I have are linked in some way, the endocrine system, hormones and other stuff I won't bore you with. She referred to a few books in more detail as I had some strange things in a recent blood test like a very high level of folic acid. She then looked at my iris in detail and there were one or two little things like upper back and neck pain and the endocrine system as a general thing which showed up strongly- BUT NO THYROID! She said if I hadn't told her I had that problem, she wouldn't have known, yet she picked up that I have the occasional twinge behind my left shoulderblade Her general conclusion was that I need to boost the immune system, and endocrine system. I am bordering on having ME, which does not surprise me as I have many of the symptoms even though my thyroid is supposedly under management. The good (very good) news is that she said she can almost definitely have me feeling normal in roughly 6 months, and feeling great within a year! I can't even remember what normal feels like, nevermind great. She said a whole bunch of other interesting stuff, like my pupils are so huge because I am lacking adrenaline. She has given me a bottle of mixed liquid herbs, notably licorice, chamomile and celery and a whole bunch of others. I just put a teaspoon in a glass of water 3 times a day. She has also given me high strength good quality vitamins and minerals and fish oil capsules and a superfoods powder which is made into a drink with water or juice. Also, some pro biotics as she feels I may have stomach Candida. She has advised me to cut down on wheat as I eat more pasta than anything, and explained some alternatives. I started my new regime today, I am still taking my medication from the doctor but she advised as my energy levels go up, to have regular blood tests in case the doctor needs to drop my meds. I feel like I am taking control of my illness. She advised me on my diet which has been terrible. I trust very much in herbal remedies and she was very knowledgeable and fully qualified. So, fingers crossed this will work!! |

good for you !!!!!
i too believe that if you can solve it naturally give it a go. i even use natural things with isaac he reacts terrribly to colouring and flavourings (think ADHD like symtoms) and all kids medication has them in to make them tasty. if hes got a cough he get a home made syrup made from honey and sugar and lemon i take him to the doctors only if i can't cure it my self first and i find with him that he will want to take the medicins longer than he needs too so i don't have to worry about a few extra days of honey and lemon. if he cuts himself or i burn myself (this happen alot me and my oven are in the middle of a long ongoing war) a drop of laveder fixes everything i burnt my arm quiet badly cooking a couple of yeara ago a put lavender oil on it (hurt like crazy) but i have no scar. for a cold a drop of eycaliptus in the bath means he can sleep well all night or a few drops of olbas oil on teddy does the same thing. i drink herbal tea (tho i have to limit the ones i drink at the mo not all baby safe) and as a higly strung person camomile is my friend. i cook alot from scratch and if i can get it in bulk and natural i do the only convenience food we get is microwave lunches for hubby to take to work so he can resist the call of fast food. this afternoon isaac is getting a dose of vitamin d from a run round at the park and i will hopefully get a quiet after noon so i can make home made cookies and granola bars. i hope this works out for you!! keep us up dated with your progress. good luck zoe and einy |
I really hope this works for you. I know from experience that Dr's don't know everything and like to through pills at you.(sorry I'm having a bad day).
Are you and your Mom getting along better? |
Good for you!
I like both kinds of medicine and firmly believe there are places for it all in our lives. You will have to keep us posted on your progress. |
My boss goes to a herbalist and it works wonders for her.
I hope you feel on top of the world soon. You already "sound" happier. Good to hear something good came out of your falling out with your mum. |
Sounds wonderful, hope it all works out and you get to feeling better soon. |
That sounds good! I hope it makes a difference.
Just make sure, if you are taking other 'real' medicine that nothing interacts poorly with the herbs and stuff you're taking. Just because herbs are 'natural' doesn't mean they can't have complications. |
Nice! Hope it works!! |
Thanks everyone! I had to take in all my meds to show her and she made sure nothing clashed.
I need some wheat free recipes! |
One of the places where Norm is living at the present is the largest herbal market in the world.
I cannot wait to go and go thru this market........ if i ever get to buy my ticket from all this crap going on in my life at the moment to go over. ali |
Good that sounds positive. I have colitis and take aloe vera, vitamins, and probiotic tablets as well as gp medication. My consultant says my tablets are no good. Just because clinical trials have not been done on them doesnt mean they dont work! |
