Nelson's New Career
I was confident he'd do well around people, other dogs, noises and medical equipment but leaving the food alone had me a bit worried. Not a problem! They didn't use a hamburger or steak as a distraction. Whew! His biggest hurdle was that his handler has trouble figuring out left and right turns so obviously Rally isn't in the stars for us. Anyone who knows Nelson is aware of how sweet and gentle he is for such a big dog. He lives to meet and greet people so it was natural that he should find his "dream job" doing therapy work. Sure beats meeting people at the door of Walmart. 
As soon as I learn to become a "therapy person" we'll see what kind of facilities we'll have access to. I'm so proud of our big boy!!!

| We've been asked to join a group in Indianapolis that meets where we did the testing.
They don't have an OES in the group yet so they basically hired him on the spot. |

CONGRATULATIONS NELSON & NITA!!!
I was surprised to find when I got the paperwork to begin our visits at one of the local hospitals, that I have to get shots, too.  I guess it's only fair though, since the wigglebums had to get theirs. 
I knew Nelson would be a natural. He's such a gentle soul.  Genny nearly flunked the food distraction part, though. They used a chicken breast.  |
