He is normal there a herding breed and also at 6 months still probably teething and exploring everything with his mouth.
Re-direct the nipping on you to a chew toy, when he does nip give out a loud squeal and turn around and ignore him and walk off for a little while. Then when he settles down give him something to chew on and when he takes it, praise him for that. He is still only a baby and yes it has to stop before he gets bigger and it really starts to hurt. They get excited and part of their instinct is to play nip but it has to be trained out of them gently before it becomes the norm for them to nip when at play or over excited. |
Hi,
Maximus is always nipping our hands when we walk past him. He used to nip our ankles when we walked by but that has stopped. Sometimes he bites my daughter and her friend hard. Is there any tips on getting him to stop this at almost 1 year old? Thanks, Judy |
Blue still does this believe it or not when we are getting ready for bed and he wants to play. Looks like he is laughing at the same time and poor thing gets into trouble because all of us want to go to bed. |
