We have a new dog (angyl).. She appears maybe pitbull/mastiff.. or maybe boxer.. not sure.. she has the poit coloring. (light tan) but her head althouh big is not really pit which are kinda oval. Shes got more of a square jaw and some jowls. ANyway, shes really umm Playful. We have another dog (Mason) whos is a full Aussie . Mason is very well natured. Doesnt really like conflict. Long as you stay out of his "den" under the coffie table all is good. However Angyl wants to play ROUGH . she jumps up and raps her front paws around him and bites at him. He will play like that for a bit but he backs off. Problem is she doesnt . She'll go after him . He goes to his coffie table and "hides". Angyl follows and therfor gets growled at . However she doesnt care and bites at his paws. He growls more. By then we break it up. Simply If Angyl ever wanted too she could hurt mason . However Mason I believe does "like" her . (shes female and hes male, she IS fixed but hes not). She is also kinda rough with the Cats. They have lived with Mason who again is very laid back. they sinply stay away from the coffie table. Angyl on the other hand again wants to play . problem is she again plays rough and smacks the cats with her front paws. The cat of course hisses . Angyl then trys nipping at them. Again I believe its in "play" . Shes not being visous. However again with her breed and such she could very easly and quickly hurt the cats. So How do we break her of playing so rough? We have kept her on a leash inside and shes ok long as shes on it. But once shes off shes in "play mode" Shes good off the leash if shes in a room by herself and that gates up. But if a cat or mason for that matter go near the gate shes bouncing all over trying to play. We cant keep her on a leash all the time. My Wife is really attached to her and wed rather train her then abandon her to the pound. However I dont want the other animals hurt eather.. Any advice would be welcome ! |

How old is she?
Sometimes when puppers and other animals in the house they need a "Time Out" to settle down if over excited or tired. Gives the others a break too.
Do you have a crate? Having one and when she becomes a little bit overwhelming for the others, going away for a little while with a toy for a "Time Out" into a crate or another room, till they calm down a bit, they soon learn.
Treat training too to get her attention, reward her for proper good play with the others and ignore her and time out when she becomes too rough. She will click what is appropriate play and what is not if you give her a good training regime and routine with the other. |
Shes almost 2 . So in Puppy stage still.. We have a Crate for her when shes real bad.. But problem is , if someones home and she hears them she wines and barks . We figured wed let her "cry it out" but she did this for almost 2 hours . Everytime she heard someone . She has calmed down a bit in the last day or so, again problem is she wants to play. Weve heard do NOT play or let the 2 dogs play by wrestling. Unforunitly thats the only game she will play..LOL.. Mason likes fetch. She kinda looks at the thing we thru , and then looks at us..and then nips at us.. "Ok .. you thru that..lets wrestle!" |
