Urinated frequently in the house yesterday, Skipped dinner last night, Was very gassy; we kept looking for where she had soiled Hestitated before eating breakfast And vomited the entire contents of her stomach afterwards We have had her 1 week, feed her large breed Iams puppy, as did her breeder, and train her with dried venison snacks. I would greatly welcome any advice. |

I would probably at the very least call the vet. I might even think about bringing her in. They are so tiny and can dehydrate so fast, just like little kids. Also, keep up the good work about being so observant about her habits and attitudes. It will be invaluable as she grows older and the vet needs to know things regarding her health. |
Alina, it probably is best to take her in and get her checked out. Have you taken her to the vet since you got her? Most breeders suggest a vet check within 72 hours of you purchasing the puppy, both for the health and safety of the puppy, and also for yours and the breeders protection. If there is no vet check within 72 hours, then if something goes wrong you will never know if something was wrong with the puppy in the beginning or if it is something that has happened while you have had her. Depending on when she had her first shots (most vets now say a shot sooner than 8 weeks of age is useless, but many breeders haven't adopted the updated protocols yet and vaccinate at 6 or 7 weeks anyway when it is pretty much useless because the antibodies from the mother neutralize the vaccine) she shouldn't be due for another shot for one or two weeks, maybe 3 weeks if the breeder did indeed wait till 8 weeks for the first set. She may however be due to be dewormed. She was probably done at 3 weeks and again at 6 weeks, so right about now would be a good time to do it again.
She may have just eaten something small that doesn't agree with her, a leaf off a plant, a button, a sock, who knows.... Please let us know how she is doing! |
Be sure to get her checked for worms. We sure had our problems with Bailey and two types of worms he was dealing with. Cleared up very easily once it was detected. I am sure Vets everywhere love new puppy owners.
Good Luck! |
Yup... Looks like worms to me. Lennon had the same problems a few weeks after he arrived. A visit to the vet fixed him right away after a few pills and lots of dollars.
Keep an eye on Tigerlily, it's great that you note everything she does, shows how much you care for her... Take her to the vet, I'm sure your vet will get her up and running in no time. |
Alina,
How's Tiger Lily feeling? I hope she's better! Kristen |
