Quercus has for about the past 4-5 months jumped into the tub and just stood there. He doesn't lay down and I know he doesn't want a bath (he hates getting wet and tries his best to get out of the tub when getting a bath!) Just recently he has started to eat bar soap. A few months ago he came ripping out of the bathroom with a bar in his mouth and we got it from him, he hadn't touched soap until the other day I noticed a nice bar of Body Shop soap had dissapeared. I asked my boyfriend if he took it, but it turned out to be the dog. We have tried to pull the curtain but he still manages to get in there. Does anyone else find their OES randomly in the bathtub or eating soap? it's such as pain but everything from the tub is now put in a closest so the dog can't get it. He also randomly stands in the corner and just stares at the corner. We find him doing this and haven't figured out why....he hasn't got scolded and we don't notice anything that he has wreked. Any reasoning why he does these things? |

Our sheepie puppy doesn't do any of that, but I had an English Springer Spaniel that LOVED to eat soap. He'd crawl in the tub searching for it. One day he ate an entire bar of Ivory, and yakked white stuff and BUBBLES! He looked like he was foaming at the mouth for a while, but it was tiny bubbles all around his mouth. Of course I took him to the vet, who thought it was hilarious.
I switched to a shower gel vs. soap. He never did get over his obsession with soap and would often go get in the tub just to check and see if, by chance, I'd left a bar of soap out. Not sure about the corner standing. Anyone else have thoughts? |
I have two soap eaters, mother & daughter, and we discovered that one of the other daughters does this too. Only dove soap bars for some reason
None who voluntarily hang out in the tub though.... Is the corner he stares at where you used to keep the soap? Kristine |
The tub is a nice cool spot to relax in. I regularly find paw prints in ours. |
Kody doesn't go for the soap, he does however love hot soapy bath water. In cold weather I have to get in a tub of hot water to warm myself up and Mr. Kody almost breaks his neck getting there when he hears the water running in the tub...so now I can not put in bubbles unless I shut him out of the room. Which makes for an interesting bath because he will sit outside the door waiting for my daughter or hubby to decide that they absolutely can not wait for me to finish and they open the door to ask me something (happens every time)....in comes Kody looking so proud of himself, like he has some special power to make people do what he wants! I know it is a pain but I now make sure there is absolutely nothing left on the tub, or vanity top for that matter because he would randomly come carrying a shampoo bottle, toothpaste, razor you name it he found it. Good luck to you. |
Only once did Max hop in the tub on his own.
He was sick and ended up having an accident in there. It was lot easier to clean up than carpet! |

Our little crack baby Margie(shes a bit obsessive about a few things) loves the bath tub and shower. On occasion she will lay down and sleep, but mostly it seems to be some sort of inspection tour. The soap is out of reach so I'm not sure what she would do with that. |
Our Beauford LOVES to sleep in the shower. I sometimes forget he goes in there and get the wits scared out of me if I get up in the middle of the night. But no soap eaters here. Toilet paper but not the soap lol |
