tomorrow I will call my dentist (the clinic doc doesn't think it is toothe related but it won't hurt to check) and we will be following up with my regular doc when he opens on Tuesday (does it say something that I searched out a vet who is available 24/7 and my own doc only has office hours three days a week?) The pain is intense and lasts for 2 to 5 minutes at a time - even wakes me up at night (and nothing ever does). its so odd. |

Boy do I hear you. For some unknown reason I awoke a week ago with a huge red mark on my left side of my foot. It is swollen and my ankle is 2 times the size. It feels like a knife in my foot when I walk. It is starting to get better with inflameatory meds. What the h is this. I called the Dr. Her staff informed me that they no longer take medicare. I am on my own!
MONEY, MONEY, MONEY. Not people are important anymore. So I have no health coverage now. |
It could be TMJ, if you haven't already ruled that out. I had jaw problems for years when I was younger but I don't suffer like I used to but I had similar symptoms to what you're describing.

MONEY, MONEY, MONEY. Not people are important anymore. So I have no health coverage now. Welcome to socialized medicine! Doctors are not getting paid by Medicare or the payments are limited so they limit the number they will take or even refuse it all together so they can pay their staff, themselves, their insurance, their rents, their equipment, etc. I've had friends work in MD's offices and hospitals and they wait 6 months or more for Medicare payments from the government. Doctors are saying, "To H-- with it." Sorry about the pains.......it's frustrating without a cause. |
When there is only one payer or standardized payments (or both), they won't have much of a choice. |
yes, I'll be looking forward to the government telling me what I can receive and what not. "Sorry, you've already been to the doctor's X times this year. You've used up your allotment." Already it's "15 minute" rule......the doctor can see you for only 15 minutes and then must rush off to the next patient. |
My first thought was TMJ also, certainly worth asking about. |
Another possibility, though I really hope not, is Trigeminal Neuralgia.
They will usually rule out TMJ first. TN needs to be handled by a neurologist. My mother has had it for years. |
Hope you are feeling better Kerry!

okay update. Sunday night one of my teeth started to feel funny and the rest of the pains stopped. the dentist x-rayed the tooth couldn't find anything wrong, but from his exam it was clear that was wear I ad response pain. He drilled out the old fillimg and packed it with meds and a temporary filling. now the tooth is sore (from the work) and my face is a llittle swollen in front of the tooth. The dentist doesnt think the tooth is the issue. As long as the pain has stopped I am okay with it I am sure my doc will want to run a gazzillion tests. |
Ouch - I hope things settle down. |
Let's hope that was it. Those take a few days to settle down. |
feel better soon |
OUCH!!! I was also thinking on TMJ. My sister has it....I know it's quite painful.
