When did you change to feeding twice a day?

We are still feeding our four month old three times a day. According to the bag of food she should be eating like 5 cups of food a day 8O She might eat 3 1/2 cups a day. Some meals she skips all together. We've started adding a bit of hot water to try to coax her to eat a bit more. The vet said she might not be eating because she's currently loosing a lot of teeth all at once. :(

Someone mentioned to me that it might be time to just cut her back to twice a day. That way she would be hungrier at meal time. What do you all think?

I weened my puppies from eating three times a day to twice a day after their first birthday.

Good luck.
I am still feeding 3 times a day. I go home to let her out of crate and walk her anyway. So I just split up her daily total amount for the 3 x's. I talked to my vet for advice as well and he said that if she will eat it, then it won't hurt to continue the 3 meals. He compared to people, if concerned at all about weight issues, better to do smaller more frequent meals than fewer larger ones. (since she is confined during the day while we are all at work). I was told that she would eventually give up the noontime on her own, but......she still likes to eat her lunch.
For me, having to COAX my dog to eat a little bit more was "my" sign to cut down to twice a day. I want to say that was at 4.5 months?? My bag of food says to give more than the 3.5C's I also give my 6 month old, BUT he's at the perfect weight with solid consistent poop ...and the recommended amount would be too much. If they're at a good weight, I don't see a need to get them to eat more. You should be able to feel their ribs still, which I can, yet there is still a nice layer of fat over that. It was actually when I cut the meals to TWICE a day ...he actually ate all his food. At 3 times a day, he wouldn't. Each dog will be different of course :)
