Another question. Her black fur/hair seems so dull and dry. Is your OES puppy hair shiny? The girl I walk with thinks she needs what is it...fish oil? We end up bathing her about every two weeks. Should her hair have more sheen? |

As far as I remember the puppy coat does get dull. Almost brown at the ends. My breeder started to cut it off. Your dog is coming into the new coat.
No need for fish oil. |
Yes, as OES Mommy said, it is her next coat change. It should be coarse and more wiry. The transition is gradual, over several months. The puppy hair is old and dead, so it looks that way. You can trim/clip the coat to help the process along if you want.
As far as the fish oil, I think it is a good deal. I feed it to all of mine - and they are all diferent breeds. Good for the skin and coat, as well as the omega 3 benefits - just like for people! |
good advice Dawn |
I give mine Tuna once a week and this really helps with the coat, the other thing I use on Puppies coming in with a coat that is changing is a shampoo call first aid its sold be dezynadog here in the uk I use this on all my clients dogs and coat changing has never been easier i woudn't be without it. It also keeps the coat in very good condition, it can also be used on older dogs needing a bit more for the coat and the coat is not left heavy. |

I've just been giving Tiggy fish oil capsules. How much tuna do you give them at a serve? |
I give them half a small tin each, once a week that's enough. |
My MIL gave her dog (not an OES) green beans with dinner every night to help with his coat- that's what she said...
My girl Bailey's coat is changing a lot- but we're going to get her shaved in the next couple of weeks because it's getting warmer. She won't let me comb her head, either, so she has a couple of mats starting... |

Thanks I'll give that a try. I know she'll love it. Will just have to give the sloppy beard a wipe before she plops it in my lap and gives the cat wet, slurpy kiisses all over his head. |
cool thanks for the ideas! |
