My number one question is any suggestion for the introduction?? Should I bring her to airport and share the drive back? Or meet at home? Should I keep him in the cage once we get home? I would love any book recommendations as well. WHOOOOO!!! |
|
Congratulations!!!!!!!! What a cutie!!! Have you thought of a name ????
Heart arrived at about 2 in the morning, so, of course, I waited until the next morning for 'introductions'.... I have no suggestions, but I made sure there was no negative actions brewing..a show of teeth, low growl, you know? Fortunately for me, Pearl mainly ignored her for the first few days, I guess she thought she a visiting and wasn't worth the effort... and Coz was very curious and playful with her. Good luck and keep us posted!!!!!!! |
I always think despite what sometimes is recommended ...it's not necessary for all dogs. My dogs always had new dogs coming in, staying, etc... so we just brought in the new dog, kept in crate so no one including the new pup was overwhelmed, and Yuki was still queen of the house. No problems. I only mention that because your dog always "appears" to be well-socialized and fine with overnight guests as well. *shrugs*
I think it would be a huge hassle to take another dog to the airport with you. Pain in the butt. One new dog that has possible peed everywhere is enough. |
we just got 2 new OES from Calf. It was 1:01 AM so we waited to let Snowy meet them. It was the best thing we did.
Yours is a cutie!!! Name please!!!!!!! CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Still thinking on a name. I would love another L name and russian again but it has been hard we have a russian guy at work and has been helping but I haven't found anything yet. I do like the sound of Langley.
The boy's name Langley \l(a)-ng-ley, lan-gley\, also used as girl's name Langley, is of Old English origin, and its meaning is "long meadow". Place name: Langley, Virginia is home to the Central Intelligence Agency. Langley has 4 variant forms: Langlea, Langlee, Langleigh and Langly. |
Of course, there is always the option to name your new pup RON
Congrats on the new baby! Can't wait to see more pics. |
Congrats and I hope he likes the lake more than laika
I have always been told to introduce on neutral territory, preferably outside and perhaps through a gate so each feel unthreatened and can retreat. When Morgan came we took Marley to the airport to meet him - she was only 3.5 months old so it was two puppies and one was a mess!! I took my sister with me and between the two fo us it really wasn't much of a problem. |
neutral ground that is a good idea. I want a good first introduction. |
Oh how cute! We introduced Annie to Fozzie on our neighbor's lawn in the hopes that Annie wouldn't be immediately territorial. She was pleasant for about 2 seconds , but that's Annie for ya! Then we moved to our backyard where Annie actually play bowed and rolled around on her back. I have never seen her do that again. |
It's hard to find russian male names that start with L... I do like Langley or even Landon. |
Yah Langley is really sticking with me. Does it fit him you think
are you feeling that from him? |
Paula O. wrote: Of course, there is always the option to name your new pup RON Ooooh I like how you think!
I'm looking back and forth between your pup's picture, and Stacey's avatar....???? |
Congratuations on your new puppy. Adorable
I like Langley as a name too. Can't wait to see lots of pictures! |
I think Langley suits him wonderfully... it's a gentle, yet masculine name |
yah pictures wink wink... |
How about Luka or is that too close to Laika?
Lazar? Lyov (lion)......naw, sounds like "lay-off" . Yeah, I'd probably pass up Leonid too There are some really cool Russian names that don't start with "L". I guess I'm not sure having the first part of their names sounding similar, tho LiiiiiK and Laaaanng may be different enough |
Ron wrote: I'm looking back and forth between your pup's picture, and Stacey's avatar....???? ahh, ever the observant one..... |
He is a cute boy!! I do like Langly seems to fit! |
There will be new pictures tonight or tomorrow for sure
Pups are getting baths, tattoos and nails clipped today so we'll get lots of pics before the tattoo ink makes them look like Easter beagles. LOL (it's green) |

don't you just want another one? Chewie paid me to say that - he needs the rest! |
Congrats!!! He's adorable! I'm sure Laika will be a fantastic sister, but I always suggest meeting on neutral grounds first. If we are ever worried about a foster dog not getting along with Marley, we do a big long walk with the both of them, always with Marley in front. It calms them down and we get into the pack mentality right away.
Stacey: Who is this little guy? Can you tell me where he is going so I can steal him? |
I found this link with boys russian names.....
http://www.20000-names.com/male_russian_names.htm alik is nice, so is luka |

She is very cute too |
Hi Lisa, We also took Macy for a walk to meet Digit. Barry dropped me off
at the house and he continued on down the road a ways and parked and took Digit out of the car and waited for me to bring Macy on the walk. She was really great at meeting him this way. We remember the funny look on her face though when we walked back up the road and walked into the house with him as well. It was a hey?!? you mean he's coming in too? I also like Langley---but have it be known Digit wasn't "Digit" until about 3 days after we had him. All the names we picked just didn't seem like him. He had a real gorilla walk stride so we named him after the gorilla that Diane Fossey (gorillas in the mist) really became attached to. Can't wait to meet him! |
How about Liev?
Russian, Hebrew, Heart of the lion |
Congrats on your new boy! |
Congrats!! I'm sure Laika will make a great big sister. |

Well perhaps he will be like Laika she didn't cry not even the first night fingers crossed. But that was probably a fluke. 2 more days! Everyone at work is super excited. I bring Laika to work a lot so everyone knows her. |
Langley is by now in the air and will be arriving in Halifax at 5:30pm their time.
Short flight so hopefully he doesn't poop in the crate LOL Here is a pic of him first thing this morning before we left for the airport |
ACK!!! let me outta work!! HE is soooooo cute ACK! hope he doesn't poop! |
Must be hard to let go, Stacey! |

Oh what a doll Langley is , pics, pics, pics please |
I've heard from Langley's sister's new family, she is home safe and sound...
Haven't heard from Lisa yet tho... |
I am tired~ well he wasn’t that bad but he didn’t poo so I didn’t sleep well then I took him out at 4:30 am and he cried for 5 minutes and then I was up at 6 am with him tired!
Mostly my fault I laid there stressing over his not going poops before sleep But I love him! Laika is pretty good with him not aggressive. Just clumsy. The paws she knocked him over a couple time. But she was sweet he kept biting her feet and she took it in stride. Thank goodness I have this afternoon off and don't go back to work until Wednesday. Get a good schedule going. |
Aww. Welcome home Langley! Hope you have lots of fun with your new furbaby. |
I'm glad he made it home safe & sound! I know you're super excited, but don't forget we want pictures!! |
I uploaded some. Many where a blur he was moving around a lot. |
Good Morning Lisa, Laika and Langley
Just checking in to see how you are doing. Hope you are getting used to some sort of schedule(Digit peed almost every 2 hours). Did you weigh him yet-----he looks big! Hope to see you at class on Wednesday. HAPPY EASTER TO YOU AND YOUR FURRY BUNNIES |
Congrats with Langley. He sure is a cutie. |
she must be too tired to get on the forum haha |
I have been off work to spend time with him. No internet at home. Live in the boonies
Well he is a smart little cookie. I don't know if Stacey taught him sit already but he does it. And he rings the bell at the door I don't think it clicked yet what it means to him but person on two legs opens door when I do that He sit before come inside the house. ANd he has learned to help Laika torture the cats |
It sounds like your little one is making progress. |
