So sorry this happened. I stick to PRO PLAN.
What will come next Why do they do this to our pets? |
3 of 4 of mine get Nutro Natural and they are fine. |
I've mentioned it here a few times, but I guess it's not big enough of a problem. Who knows ...maybe even just a coincidence to when these animals started the food. |
Or did they owners switch them over too quickly? Nutro Natural has more vegetable matter in it......maybe the dogs' tummies can't make the conversion. |
I had the same problem with Burns, she's now on Nutro and I have no poblems at all. Just what is going on with this food................... |

A number of the complaints listed can't necessarily be linked conclusively or in some cases at all to the food - livershunts (hereditary), brain tumors, various cancers, old age problems, hypothyroidism in a breed notorious for it (not ours, for a change ). If there's a problem with the food, some kind of toxins or contamination, you'd expect the illnesses to be more consistent. Recurring kidney and liver failure stories rang a bell, but why some dogs and not others, and why sometimes this and some times that? Odd. Pancreatitis is another repeating one. Is Nutro especially high in fats compared to many other brands? Belle, geriatric, had a bout of overnight vomiting which sent me scrambling to the vet a few weeks ago for bloodwork and x-rays - my dogs have that iron gut thing going for them so any deviation scares the pants off of me. If I had just changed foods (and I rotate) I probably would have been suspicious of what I was feeding her (and, no, I don't happen to feed Nutro, so she's not a statistic). But I hadn't. Still have no idea what caused the vomiting. Some times dogs vomit. If they're four-legged garbage disposals like the ones I live with, they up their odds that something isn't going to go over well with them. Some, many of those stories, may simply be dog got sick - and dogs do get sick for many, many reasons - you google it, you see complaints about Nutro and you draw conclusions that may or not be correct. Then again, with all the food scares we've had over the past few years, yeah, I worry too. In cases where multiple dogs get ill (could still be other environmental) and there's been a recent change in food, it probably wouldn't hurt to save the bag and ask to have the food tested like some of the people listed on the site did.
