Any tips....she is a CRAZY gal and I am worried about how she will do! (me too, I have never done agiltiy) She has been through basic obedience many times BUT, as I said is CRAZY! We have tried lure coursing with her and she chased the passing cars at the fence! On our side she is very obedient(when focused) and has an awesome recall!! I think she will do great, help her focus and give her a job. Any tips would be so appreciated! |

there are a couple of books and videos out on flatwork and agility foundations that will give you some things to work with outside of class and get her better able to focus around all the fun zoomie equipment
One of the things I like about agility is the bond it can build - you'll have fun |
Tonks is my big "Spaz". While both my girls are obedient, Tonks can have a mind of her own. That being said, she is MUCH better at Agility than Luna, who loves doing her commands. All that energy Tonks has seems ideal for the Agility course. and its so funny, when Tonks doesn't get an obstacle quite right, and I call her back to re-do it, she comes back via any equipment that might be in between us, just so she can play that little bit more.
Sometimes I will take the girls to the park for an hour before class, just to burn off some extra energy. You might want to try that if you are concerned about it. GOOD LUCK!!! |
When Simon went to beginners class he was only a year old and totally spastic.
Before class I took him to the dog park and let him run for an hour and that seemed to calm him down...a little. |
Simon's Mom wrote: Before class I took him to the dog park and let him run for an hour and that seemed to calm him down...a little. RIGHT!!! "a little". Last week the treats I brought were too good; and Tonks was jumping on anything she could, like she was saying "Look mom, I'm doing the A-frame; can I have another treat?!?" I brought less exciting treats this week. |
