BELOW HAS SENSITIVE INFO ...right before my guests came, I probably peed out 4 CUPS of blood. Nonstop and all the other symptoms were there. The rest of the day I had severe "contractions," lower back pain, and a sudden disappearance of pregnancy symptoms as well as loss of weight. Today I vomited blood! The only thing that wasn't there was clots. I just got back from my appt, and... for some reason the baby is still there, has grown accordingly, and has a very strong heartbeat I'm excited and scared. Excited but very worried that he/she is unhealthy which of course I'd accept completely if things go to full term) ...and there was no explanation for the blood or the way I've been feeling. When you try to teach your oldest to dial 911 ...you know things are pretty serious (how I've been feeling). So... for now, they told me things are still looking up. I go in next tuesday to check again. I'm very confused. I guess I'm glad my intuition WASN'T right, but I'm' still waiting to see how things go. I was told to take it easy. |
|
I'm so glad the baby is still there... take it REALLY easy.
My second baby I had a lot of bleeding on and off through most of the pregnancy, the placenta was slightly separated up til the 7th month, then it was worse, but he stayed put til the 8th month and was born at a tiny 5 lbs 5oz, but healthy. It sounds to me like you may be having some kidney issues with the lower back pain though? Have they thoroughly checked everything out to make sure YOU are ok too? |
Mrs. J.....
YOU are the one on the roller coaster...you poor thing...but what encouraging news!!!!! As long as the baby is growing with a strong heartbeat,,,,, he/she sounds like a fighter!!!!! I will be checking this thread often...please keep us updated... |
Wow what a way to spend the weekend and then get this news. I am glad for you. |
Wow. What a stressful, trying weekend for you.
Please take it easy. Be careful and keep your hopes high, fingers crossed all that.... |
Oh, sweetie, I don't know what to say! I'm sorry you're going through so much and hopeful that it's good news that sticks.
Did they have any idea about vomiting blood? Hopefully you'll just be an 'odd' case and the rest will go well. How are you feeling now? |
My best friend had the very same thing happen. They were able to detemine that she had been pregnant with twins, and, had miscarried one. She had a couple of ultrasounds before this happened , and there was no indication of twins prior to the miscarriage. She now is the proud mother of Heath-- who is a strapping 18 year old cutie. 5 more boys followed....
Good luck, and yes, this is a roller coaster ride. No concerns from the doctor about the vomiting of blood? A bleeding ulcer perhaps? Nothing to mess with Jo. |
What happy, good news. I hope things straighten out for you soon. Prayers and good wishes going your way! |
As Lori said I had the same if you remember. I did not know way back then ( 1968 ) that I had twins. I lost one but we did't know that at the time. I did carry full term and had a 12.3 girl!!! So hang in there. Above all no lifting or work. DO IT.
My prayers are with you. |
Lovely! Hang in there!!!
I hope your'e lucky and that things turn out well some how! Good luck to you and your family. |
I had a previa with my second and the blood was so scary. It all turned out well in the end. She is the one who went to Sheepiefest with me. The twin theory sounds pretty solid too. Just TAKE IT EASY!!!!! |
Hang in there. My 3rd baby brought me a very similar pregnancy. I had COOMBS and placenta previa, as well as a very long tear in the placenta (where the placenta was detaching from the uterus). It was high risk and touch and go for 30 weeks and then all of a sudden, everything righted itself. The tear healed, the placenta moved up the uterus and the COOMBS count declined every week. I bled up until week 29. I had an ultrasound every 10 days. I had five 3-D ultrasounds. I had my blood drawn every Monday and Thursday. It was a rough go with 2 other children and a career.
That baby is 5 and a half now and an amazing boy. He went through so much and was so high risk that my doctor didn't want me to tell my older children I was pregnant even at 18 weeks - I was as big as a house. Keep this in mind and let it be comforting. You and your little one will make it! |
Good news so far, stay positive . Scary time and now time for doing absolutely NOTHING!! Feet up, no lifting and just veg out big time.
Best wishes and we are keeping all things crossed for you that all will be OK. Sheepie hugs Mrs J. we are thinking of you. |
That is good, so you have your feet up and are doing as little as possible? I hope all goes well, that baby is sure a fighter...x |
I'm glad everything is ok for now. We'll be thinking of you and the baby! |
sorry this is so unnerving for you....take it easy and id have them check on the blood vomit...that does sound like a bleeding ulcer.....
take care..and big hugs! |
wow this is good news, please rest as much as possible.
My thoughts are with you |
One time I saw this show on Discovery Health where this woman was pregnant. One night, she had a ton of unexplained bleeding, cramping and she thought she lost the babies (she knew it was twins) It turned out, an extra baby somehow worked its way out of the uterus and implanted itself on the back of her stomach. All the pain and bleeding was the baby making a run for it. The doctors never saw it because they never looked there. In the end, she had a c-section but three healthy babies.
(It's the only pregnancy story I know that relates.) |
Happy for your good news and do take it easy |
Oh my goodness. What good news, but how scary your symptoms are.
Are you holding your breath just waiting? |
My goodness; you must be so scared; I would be! How confusing and emotionally tumultuous!!!! I'm glad to hear the baby is okay; now focus on making sure YOU are okay! Stay healthy, and look after yourself; you'll be in our thoughts...
|
Wow! You're absolutely right when you call it a rollercoaster ride! How scary, but I'm SO glad for you that the baby is okay. I agree with everyone else too that I would demand to know more about why you vomitted blood.
It's so great that you now live around family, and they can help you out with the boys while you take it super extra easy!! |
What a weekend you've had.
My thought was twins too. I've heard of bleeding when one goes. Throwing up blood That one has me worried. Did the Dr. say anything about that? Sit your butt in a chair! Feet up!! The rest can wait! |
Oh Bless you , I had bleeding with my 4th and he went on to almost full term and weighed nearly 9lbs ! He'll be 13 this summer .......I wanted to tell you this when you posted the last message but didn't want to give false hope .
I hope all goes well for you and your little one . Julie x |
All my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.... let's hope the news just keeps on getting better from here
|
Oh my. Hang in there lady! Please, please, please REST. |
Mr. J and I were both confused to why none of my other symptoms were addressed too. I guess I'll have to wait until my next appt. because my doctor is out all week. I think I've come down with a fever which may have been causing non-baby symptoms. I'm very sick now.
I'm not sure it's a vanishing twin b/c I haven't passed any clots or tissue which I was told ...as far along as I am now, it's a must or the other baby would still be in me. I wish it was though "just" because it seems less worrisome than some other things. I am going up and down emotionally with thoughts of this child, and I can't figure out how attached I should get. Well, I've become very attached to this fighter... Oh, and I'm bleeding again this morning. edit: I think people know but now but the below may be gross to some. I plan on calling when the clinic open in 45 min, but now my blood is a deep plum/purple ...almost black color. I wish they could tell where the blood was coming from in the last ultrasound!!!!!!! |
Jo, get your butt to the Dr's!!
There must be someone there competant enough to tell you what is going on! |
The midwife is supposed to call me back.
Here is a pic of my ultrasound. ...that's the umbilical cord not a third leg in the middle I'm just amazed at what they look like and I'm only 10.5 wks. |
That is a nice US.
One of the 3D ones? |
Hope you get some news from the Dr. today--will continue to keep you in thoughts and prayers. Take care. |
please let us know as soon as you hear something - I'm pulling for you |
Oh my gosh! Stay strong...and do whatever the Doctor says to do. Take care of yourself and your baby!!! |
Thinking of you and your little one!!! |

Ditto. Sounds like enough worry on u and your little one. Thoughts and prayers are with u. From a former preemie mom...u know and can feel in your heart what is going on. Call that dr and don't let up until u have seen someone. |
Mrs. J...
vomiting/passing blood with fever. Is it possible you have food poisoning? These are symptoms I had when I had Trichinosis. Just thinking outside the box, as it were. Allison |
Your roller-coaster ride sounds horrid. I'm praying for you. Hope to hear good news... |
I don't see anywhere that she said she was vomiting blood?
Cool ultrasound pic.... How did things go today? |

I am not sure it is helpful, but I have been taking care of a patient at work for the past week that has similar symptoms, all except the pregnant part, since it is a man....BUT this guy has a clotting disorder with resulting problems one of which is all this unexplained bleeding. I hope they order some labwork for you to get to the bottom of it. As gross as it sounds, I would try and get a stool sample to bring with you, it sounds like you need a COMPLETE workup.
Good luck! |

Willowsprite wrote: Darth Snuggle wrote: Joahaeyo wrote: Today I vomited blood! from the initial post at the beginning of this thread. Oh... sorry, I even went back and re read but didn't see it It stood out to me when I read it, because although I've never been pregnant, I didn't thing that her digestive tract would be affected in that fashion. I have however had trichinosis, and I had blood coming out of all sorts of places it never, ever should. Including in vomit. NOT however in urine. So I could be way off base. PLEASE go see a doctor Mrs. J, even if it means a trip to the Emergency Room!!! |
We're thinking w/my sinus infection, it could have caused me to vomit a mixture of mucus and blood.
...and the dark blood is old blood not new which is good and what I want to have, so hopefully this is the end of it. We'll see. If any of these symptoms start up again, I'll go to the er. |
Yikes Mrs J , take care of yourself! |
with a subchonic hemorage sp??? ( blood behind the placenta)you can either bleed it out which would be old blood or it can be absorbed (which is what happened to mine) scary i know but if babys still going strong you should be ok!!!! also my morning sickness coupled with a sinus cold like yourself caused me to vomit a little blood as well and my nose to bleed but i'm ok just stay calm.
rest rest rest got that listerning!!!!!!! REST!!! i don't know about you but i was banned from everything untill i was given the all clear at 12 weeks am still not to over exert myself - ( my blood pressure was a big issue last time with my missed miscarrage and with my son 4 years ago.tho no problems yet so far but then i've not put on as much weight this time) BUT!! i am still not allowed to carry heavyish things unfortunatly my 3 year old at 45 inches tall and 44 lbs is a heavy thing. try explaining that to a 3 year old who won't use a stroller and tho looks like a skinny 6 year old (he even taken to telling people hes isaac and hes 3 ) when hes tired that you can't carry him for a little bit, it caused a few tempers i'll tell you. but as i said REST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i had to watch a lots of really bad daytime tv with isacc sat next me or sit and read books with him take care zoe and einy |
I feel so bad for what you are going through. I know how scary this can be. I hope everything works out for you and the baby. |
Mrs J I am so happy for you. I have to relate a similar story to you. When I was pregnant with my daughter who is now 19, I spotted and had a "period" in my fourth month. Later much later at her birth, I found out that I was pregnant with twins. When she was delivered there were two bags of water but only one placenta.
Please dont worry and cause yourself undo stress. I'm so glad you still have your little bun in the oven. Take care and I'll keep your in my thoughts and prayers. |
Thinking of you!! |

An update since a few have asked me. It's SENSITIVE TMI INFO AGAIN: This is what the doctor thinks it is but says nothing is 100% as many things can cause it. I do have several hemorrhages around my placenta. Today is the third round of nonstop bleeding, cramping, contractions. I can feel everything so I'm always afraid I'll find tissue w/my blood (indicating miscarriage). The amount of bleeding is definitely not comparable to af (it's more like the steady stream of peeing). Combined with lil J just got the flu and is passing it to me. I'm just hoping it all passes w/o bringing baby down with it! Doctor is still thinking positive, so I'll only be concerned if I see tissue!!! |
this has to be so emotionally exhausting for you! Hang in there! |
rest and i'm thinking of you. |
Oh my goodness, you must be exhausted. Please rest. |
FWIW, my s-i-l passed varying amounts of blood for her entire first pregnancy. Her daughter is a very healthy 28 year old.
I started passing small amounts of blood at 13 weeks. Turns out I had a cervical polyp, which is commonly found in very old ladies I wasn't that old at 24. It was already a very high risk pregnancy as I had a hemi-uterus (only half developed - think half of a heart-shape). I was on bedrest for several months. Jason was early, but healthy. the next two were fine. |
Maybe I shouldn't ask, but I've been thinking of you and am wondering how things are going? |
me too! |
Me three. Hope you are over the flu and on the mend. Hope the kids and Mr J. are well.
We need an update. Take care, Susan |
Well, thanks!! Unfortunately I have nothing to update since my next appt isn't for a few weeks. I did call the hospital friday afternoon b/c I thought I was going to die from the morning sickness ...lol, but they closed early. I basically have tons of bleeding still. It will stop for a day, I get excited, and the littlest thing I do ...triggers it to come back (me screaming seems to be when I know when it's coming, or standing up too long, grocery shopping or something). Mr. J thinks I won't have a miscarriage at this point, so we're really just hoping the baby and mommy stay healthy when all does get ready to come out. Having a kid in the house w/a fever at separate times the past 2 wks doesn't help either. I'm just glad this is #3 and not #1 ....b/c I swear I wouldn't do this again. |
STOP screaming, get calmer!!!!!Your not doing you or the baby good. I know it is not easy. Watch TV, take a nap when the boys do. Don't stand !!! |
WHY are you doing grocery shopping? Get someone else to do it & R-E-S-T!!! |
I had nine pregnancies and delivered only two healthy children--so I have had most everything that could happen! My doctor always told me that "morning sickness" was a very good sign that the baby was developing. The two that I carried to term--morning sickness all day long! So welcome it as a sign that things are going well! Thoughts and prayers are with you as I know how trying it can be to experience unusual symptoms. Hang in there. |
