The kennels seem quite thorough, they get a minimum of three walks a day in their 11 Acre grounds! They also won't take animals that haven't had Kennel Cough innoculations. Obviously an intelligent thing to do meet the animal before boarding and minimise problems etc. Although Archie hasn't had any reported problems in other Kennels we have used, I like the idea of decent walks for him! and I don't think he was quite exercised that much at the last kennels we used. |

Well he seemed to like that, the lady there liked Archie said he seems very easy going.
When I went to pick him back up you'd think I had been away for two months rather than two hours! He went nuts, the lady at the kennel hadn't seen such a bouncy dog! |
Sounds good - but are they going to groom him???
That is the worst part of a week long vacation. All that crazy playing and no grooming....nightmare! |
They do have a Grooming parlour there so we'll have him brushed out each day (for extra obviously!)
When we go away next year for a Month to New Zealand - he'll probably go there depending how it goes in April. I am thinking it maybe easier all round if before the Trip to NZ to get him clipped down to an inch or so? |

Definitely. I always clip down any dogs I am not showing at the time before they go for boarding. The ones I am showing either go up to my breeder or the boarding kennel has instruction NOT to groom them. A lot of work when I get home from vacation but it's worth it not to have a dog with no undercoat. And the ones I clipped down are ready for a quick bath & dry to smell like home again. |
As Archie has never been clipped, would you advise doing this a month before to give him time to get used to it, rather than clip and kennels in same week, I wonder if it'd be traumatic for him? |

That would be a good idea. I'd say even 1-2 weeks before is fine....whatever works into your schedule. Sometimes the 1st time they are clipped down, they don't know what to make of it for a day or so. After that, they are just fine. |
Its good to find a kennels that you feel happy leaving Archie in.
The kennels we use will groom George as and when he needs it (for no extra) so maybe check before you go. |
