My brothers and I-- when we get together we like to goof around and tend to get a little loud which doesnt go well in the hospital. Instead of hanging out in the waiting room I booked a conference room at the hospital. So we got plenty of seating, a big table and counter space. NO FRIDGE! but we wont be a distraction to patients and staff yet we will be within minutes of the O.R when we get word on dad. We don't know yet How long he will be in. It depends if the angioplasty is successful or if they will have to open his chest. SO What should I make as munchie food to help pass the time? We are big on sandwich type food. any dips/chips ideas??? |

What about an ice chest? You could keep some foods cold until needed. The dip was what concerned me. They can't be out long, but if you have smaller portions kept cold.......the it would be safe(r).
That way you could have fruits and veggies to set out every so often. Crock pot a possibility? PBJs. Somebody could pop a boat load of popcorn and bring it......tho it is always better fresh.......yum |
Sorry to hear about your dad. I hope he has a quick recovery!
I would start with Trail Mix. BJ's club has a nice one with lots of good nuts including Cashews and some M&M (or imitators) under their house brand, "Berkley & Jensen." |
silly me didnt think of fruit or trailmix.. good ideas!
Crockpots are definately do-able as we have plenty of counter space. Gonna have a couple coolers with soda water and stuff that need to chill |
You can make a nice quick bean dip by blending or food processing canned black beans with some lime juice, garlic, chili pepper or sauce and salt. Mmm.
You can roast nuts with some shoyu sauce in the oven for tasty treats. Favorite snack of mine - olives. Mmm. |
